Beware of Hacker and Cracker Attacks!

Beware of Hacker and Cracker Attacks!

I just logged onto Free Republic and my firewall program has been going crazy. Some nut job hacker is trying to break into my computer. Ten times in the last five minutes:

Someone from 195.134.39.66, port 4622 wants to connect to port 135 owned by 'SYSTEM' on your computer.

Be careful my FR friends. People are lurking and hacking.

I believe that's the blaster worm trying to get in.

Actually the free version of ZoneAlarm is good enough for home computers. It's not really a trial, although ZoneAlarm Pro is distributed as a trial.

Not "people", it's probably the Blaster worm. Google for it, or look around www.securityfocus.com.

It's blaster or nachi. It is coincidence that you were logged into FR.

Zone alarm is great. I have used it as well. Every Freeper needs a good antivirus and a good firewall.

I once had over 300 hacker and cracker attacks in a single day. DU IT and dot.com dummys hate people who post here on FR. 'Nuff said.

This isn't new. I ran a similar thread HERE about a year and a half ago. I get hits from China, France, Germany, and CA whenever I'm on certain forums in FR.

You got any good popup stoppers? I tried, I think Poppup Stopper, but it kept freezing my system up.

There's a simple fix if you're not infected already. Run Windows Update and get your Windows up to date.

port 135 - RPC - remote procedure calls. This has to do with a recent exposed security bug in Windows code. Lots of worms are exploiting it. Not sure if the worm is in your machine or one of your neighbors. Hopefully www.freerepublic.com doesn't have worms.

You are no doubt getting probed on port 135, but I doubt you have anything running on port 135. But go ahead and start up telnetd so "we can get root". ;-)

Um, yeah, so you're saying that every hack attempt on your PC is some left-wing nut job trying to knock you offline because you're a frequent poster to FR?

I have 12 Ghosts popup killer. No problems with it and I'm running the latest Norton antivirus.
Is this Blaster thing coded for WIN 98SE or not?

Moderator, please edit the title.

I would find "Beware of Hacker and White Rural-American Attacks" to be less offensive.

Thank you.
