Columbus police have arrested a man in connection with a deady arson in Clintonville this week.

Police have arrested 17-year Beau Triplett and charged him with aggravated murder along with aggravated arson and burglary.

On Tuesday, 60-year old Orville Bailey - who was confined to a wheelchair - died when fire consumed his home on Fairlawn Drive.

Investigators say Bailey apparently tried frantically to escape the fire in his wheelchair, but failed. He was found seated in the wheelchair just inside the front door.

The coroner says Bailey died of smoke inhalation.

Bailey is the eighth person to die in Columbus this year in an arson.

Triplett was arrested just before two Friday morning.

The suspect's mother is Angie Canepa, a Franklin County assistant prosecutor. She has been quoted in the Columbus Dispatch as saying that she never just dimisses charges after evidence is found to be lacking. She always presses a lesser charge to get a conviction. I should know. I was charged with felony stalking. There was no evidence (I didn't do it; it was from my ex in a custody-divorce case) but I pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct because I called my ex a bitch on the phone. My alternative was a $5000 trial.

Hey, Angie! Too bad about your kid. Maybe they'll press for a lesser charge. Like manslaughter. Now you know what it's like to be on the other side.

Anyone care to tell us what state of the union? There are lots of cities named Columbus.

There are also a lot of posters who assume we can figure it out.

What goes around comes around, Newbie. Angie's attitude has caused a lot of grief to INNOCENT people. Now she can feel some pain. Her attitude is despicable and makes a mockery of the justice system. Maybe she should have spent more time raising her kid and less time persecuting the innocent. Shed a tear for Angie? Boo Hoo!!.

Hey, I never said that Angie was perfect. I feel for the innocent people she has prosecuted. But her son does NOT need to suffer any more because of who she is. I know Beau did not do this."What goes around, comes around", thats a bunch of BS. Beau doesn't deserve this, and Yes, Angie might deserve to feel this pain, but not an INNOCENT 17 year old boy.

Why are you so sure Beau is innocent?

Is it just because of who Angie is?

Why are you so involved in this?

Perhaps you could answer the same question, especially since you took the time to become a member of FR simply to refute my position.

Post number 1 of this thread explains why I am no fan of Angie.

Im not shedding any tears for Angie. All I am saying is that people want to see the worse happen to Beau just because of who is mother is. What about his other famliy? His siblings? My tears are for them and the rest of the family. Apparently you know what it is like to be falsely accused, now imagine Beau. He is only 17 years old. And to answer your question, I am very much involved.

I appreciate your position. And yes, my only wish is to see Angie feel what it's like to be on the other side. ESPECIALLY if Beau is innocent. That would make it all the worse for her. I wish no ill will toward Beau if he is innocent. I have two kids myself (17 and 6 years old). But Angie has earned a lot of animosity because of her statements to the press and her attitudes on prosecution.
She seems to have a big chip on her shoulder. Not a good thing for a person in her position. But as far as Beau goes, I hope he is innocent.

From what you've said, is it safe to assume you are part of Beau's step-family? If so, I understand your position. I know what it's like to have a child brought up without your own values and input. Believe me, I sympathize. I hope he is innocent.

I understand the way people feel about Angie, believe I understand. But it seems like people want Beau to suffer more because of who his mother is. Let me tell you something about Beau. To this exact exact moment I would trust him with my life and my childrens. My kids who are very young, miss him very much right now. Beau means a lot to many kids. Beau was there for me when I was alone, pregnant and scared. He is the one who made me see that things will get better, and they did. Beau is my blood and I love him very much and I stand beside him all the way. My heart goes out to everyone involved in this. And I want others to realize that just because his mother is Angie Canepa does NOT make him less of a person.

I know everyone has a right to their own opinion and I dont mean to judge others because of their opinion, but it's hard sometimes. I am sorry for getting an attitude with you bucceneer. I just want people to see Beau for who is, not for the fact that Angie is his mom. I didn't come on here to judge or to argue, but just to make my statement. I love Beau very much and he has a lot of supporters out here. I STRONGLY believe that "if ya do the crime, ya do the time", but when you know the wrong person is being charged with something as serious as this it does make you doubt our justice system. Once again I am sorry for coming off the wrong way at first. So please, everyone who is reading this~~ don't hope for the worse with Beau just because you hate his mother. A child does not get to choose who their parents are, if they did, things would be different.

How can you say that he is innocent? He repeatedly robbed an elderly woman! For christ sakes, he has offered me drugs on numerous occassions and he can't remember my name! I used to play video games after school with this kid, and even I KNOW THAT HE IS NOT INNOCENT!!!

Honestly, why would you defend Beau? Do you actually know him or are you just in his defense because he is a 17-year-old boy? The police caught him retrieving the items he stole from another house. He deserves to be tried as an adult and the maximum penalty needs to be given.

If you only knew all the facts!!! And, to answer your question, if you would read all the other replies you would see that YES I do actually know him.

Soon, everyone will know the truth. It's only a matter of time.

When was he charged with repeatedly robbing an elderly women. Uh,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, How do you know him anyway! You must be involved in this case somehow, otherwise why did you join the forum, just to criticize Beau.

Beau did it. I know it and everyone who knows him WELL knows it also. Just because he is a 17 year old kid doesn't change anything. He did what he did and he should have to pay for it.
