That state group that everybody criticized in another thread had a lot more to do with this happening than the NRA did.

I know because I was involved.

good for you, when I took My CCW class in VA,
they told us NC would not honor our permit

Because our classes were to easy,
Glad to hear it has changed.
Keep up the good work

That makes 23 states that now recognize my Florida CCW.

I like it. Let's keep up that momentum.

They've not updated their page yet.

What I put up only appeared yesterday (or perhaps today.)

(it HAD to- 60 days from the date on which the bill got signed into law)

I stand corrected.

packing.org had it up Wednesday, I see.

I've known about them.

What I was waiting to see was the real McCoy from the AG's site.

The NRA was busy this year making sure New Mexico, Colorado and Minnesota passed their CCW laws.

They're now getting ready with Wisconsin.

I thought it was busy in North Carolina harassing GRNC. I know that it ahs been busy in SC while promoting Palmetto Exile.

G.S.,

You going to get your ducks in a row and start packing?

I didn't see anything on the NRA's website about this controversy.

Compare that to the website of this gun group you're claiming the NRA is "harassing".

As I stated before, I wouldn't mind if the NRA stayed completely out of North Carolina.

They're now getting ready with Wisconsin.

The NRA was AWOL the last time us Wisconsinites tried to get CCW passed - no letters, no calls, no postcards, not even a friend of the court brief in the Hamdan case. If I hadn't signed up for CCW email notifications at a gun show, I wouldn't have even known there was CCW legislation being considered here. So, what makes you think the NRA is going to bother this time?

Been packing since 2000.

Everywhere where it's legal to do so.

Unfortunately that doesn't include where I work.

I sat in the committee meeting where a so-called "safe storage" bill was being discussed-

After Paul Valone (GRNC president) had spoken about how the bill was badly written, based on dubious premises and should be scrapped in its entirety, the NRA lobbyist from DC got up and told the proponents of the bill that the NRA was willing to help them draft "compromise" legislation.

It took some real effort to get the bill killed completely after receiving help like that.

In past years, the NRA has lent its support to legislation that would have placed severe restrictions on gun shows and given cover (via political ratings) to politicians who by their voting records have proven that they are no friends of gunowners.

GRNC is a bunch of volunteers- there is no paid staff.

Their email alert system is very effective at mobilizing gunowners- you don't even have to belong to GRNC to get on their list.

You wouldn't mind the NRA out of NC and I'd like to see them out of SC. Forty-eight to go and all that money would be available for principled and no compromise organizations.

The NRA is like a jaded politician - Fritz Hollings for instance - interested only in re-election and maintenance of power.

I personally prefer Lousisana's "open carry" law..and i frequently use it...have been stopped several times in shopping centers for having sidearm strapped on...early 20 something deputies surround me and yell drop the weapon..i calmly tell them i am not holding a weapon....i am wearing one...they ask why do you have a pistol on..and i respond because it is legal in this state or don't you know the law? usually they don't and call a supervisor who immediately tells them i am not breaking any law but then strongly suggests that i put the weapon in my vehicle, to which i reply, is the sheriff's dept going to be responsible if i get robbed or my vehicle stolen??

acouple of stuttering minutes later, i smile and thank him and go on my way...my wife tells me one day some young pissy pants scardy cat is going to shoot me and that is probable....so i tell her to sue the pants off them and live happily ever after.

Your "No Compromise" group can't even match the four million NRA members.

Motivate some of those 95% of the gun owners who are doing nothing and I might get impressed. As it stands now, the only thing your "no compromise" group thinks it can do is take members from other organizations.

Tying your shoe laces in the morning without mentioning the NRA might be a start.

Gee, maybe because this time the votes are there?

What the hell are you talking about? The WI House voted on it, and it passed. The Governor at the time said he'd sign it if it reached his desk. And Senator Zien was sure there were enough votes in the Senate. It wasn't for lack of votes that WI CCW legislation failed - it was that arsehole Chuck Chvala who refused to bring it up for a vote, and then ajourned the Senate.

Besides, if the NRA only supports legislation that stands 100% chance of passage, as you imply, then it's a totally useless organization.
