If the country had wanted Ronald Reagan for a third term, why shouldn't we have been able to elect him? I don't have to tell you that we would have been able to up until the mid-twentieth century.
During the previous two hundred years, how many life-long tyrants did we have? BTW, something fifty years old in a two-century old republic isn't really 'a tradition.'

Why shouldn't we have had Reagan for three terms. Because we have a law that prohibits that. We could just as easily have had Clinton for 3 or 4 terms, no thanks.
Don't want a naturalized citizen either, that is unconstitutional and for good reason.
