Amen! Someone made a good point awhile back about Joe. The ban was for life--his life is over so let him in. I know it might seem hollow, him being dead and all. But if the evidence means anything he did nothing to throw that Series.
To: Ray Kinsella
I was actually being sarcastic... Pete Rose deserves at least the Shoeless Joe treatment, IMHO.

Thanks for posting this. Since BP went pay per read I haven't been able to read the awesome articles. My favorite BP article was the one describing batted ball put in play batting avg..

Rose coming back will bring a lot of added interest to baseball. Whatever one thinks of Rose, and he is IMO a selfish bastard, the guy knows and loves the game. He will generate a lot of buzz and I believe will be successful in a coaching position.

Free Shoeless Joe Jackson!Did they ever allow him into the Hall of Fame? I'm glad Rose is getting another chance. He made a mistake... but he was one of the greatest ever...

This is a disgrace. But with that clown Selig in charge, anything is possible. This s.o.b. is as unrepetant as Clinton. Yeah, Pete, all those phone call logs, fingerprints, and other evidence were made up in a conspiracy to get you out of baseball. Hell, Hertz should just go sign O.J. back up for more commercials. Time has passed, let's move on, right? Bastard Selig.

Pete Rose and Major League Baseball have reached an agreement that would allow him to return to baseball in 2004, and includes no admission of wrongdoing by Rose... If true, than this is an outrage. I am sure that every criminal would like to be allowed back into society without having to admit he ever did anything wrong. IF this is true than the front office of MLB has betrayed the game. For shame!
To: GreatOne
Couldn't agree more. Has there ever been a man who tried so much to singlehandedly ruin the game? Besides Steinbrenner of course;)
To: bedolido
Rose won't even ADMIT he made a mistake. Maybe if he showed a little contrition, I'd have a different point of view, but his arrogance and inability to take responsibility for his actions, on top of what those actions were, put me in a mind to never let the guy near MLB again.

I'm glad Rose is getting another chance. He made a mistake... but he was one of the greatest ever... So did O.J. Granted the severity is much different, but our nation is refusing to enforce any standards at all because we feel "sorry" for the perp.
Time heals all wounds and the American sheeple will probably be embracing O.J. within the decade.

Their crimes were far different, Joe's being the THROWING of a World Series for money,
But
I agree.
There's no indication I've ever read that Shoeless Joe ever threw other games prior to that particular series.
Posthumous entry for his excellent career up to that point. After all, his ban was only for "life," and his life has been over a long time.

Rose is a womanizing, gambling junkie, drunk. He should fit right in with the current crop of baseball players in 2003. His managing skills are piss poor so the hype to get him on the bench for a team shouldn't really be anything of real substance...more for the fans to see him come out on the field when a call doesn't go his way and he can throw a tantrum.
PR machine in full effect folks...this is baseball cramming for any kind of good PR it can get right now.

This is a disgrace. But with that clown Selig in charge, anything is possible. This s.o.b. is as unrepetant as Clinton. Agreed. It is a disgrace. Pete Rose hasn't suffered in any measurable way. He has wandered around to card shows making a packet and being lionized by misguided fans. He goes on television and whines that he never did anything to deserve this, boo hoo.

No admission could mean that they recognized they didn't have the rock solid proof that he had bet against his team.....something they were never able to prove.
Pete admitted to betting on others and, regarding the Reds, only on them to win.
