[history]
MILWAUKEE - Ryan Clancy says he knew he could be punished for traveling to Iraq to protest the war there, but he had no idea how much the trip could ultimately cost.
Authorities have fined the Milwaukee man $10,000 for violating sanctions prohibiting travel to and trade with Iraq. If the 26-year-old doesn't pay, he could spend up to 12 years in prison.

What a maroon.

Does this mean we'll be hearing soon that Bonior and McDermott have been fined? What about Sean Penn? Or did they go before the sanctions were emplaced?

No he's not. He's got a problem with our country's policies and he has a right to do what he feels he needs to do to protest and to help those those he feels are being victimized.
What I can't deal with is the way this jerk whines like a little bitch when he should be a man and pay the fine he knew he would probably have to pay if he went to Iraq.
He's no moron....he's just a whining pussy.

It's finally time to pay the fiddler. I guess all of those whack job "human shields" are finally realizing that they must bear responsibility for their actions. Since Saddam is such a generous and wonderful human being (after all, he DID pay the families of the Palastinian homicide bombers), maybe he will offer to pay their fines</sarcasm>

Arbitrary!!?? Hardly! He purposely and knowing broke the law. If he wants to do that, he has to be ready to face the consequences.

He broke the LAW! He will pay now for his, what some consider, treasonist act.
He is not just a moron, he is a idiotic, moronic, whining, twit.

"They're not differentiating between me and a uranium dealer, even though the only thing I brought over there was crayons and construction paper," Clancy said. "I don't think they can make weapons of mass destruction with that."It really doesn't matter what you think. Clancy. The law said no travel. You willingly broke the law. Now you want to claim that "well other people did it too and the law wasn't faaaa-yer". I don't know about you but my claiming that "other people were speeding, too, officer," never got me out of a traffic ticket.
Damn lucky its just a fine and not a charge of treason.
I agree with the other poster. Wudda pussy. Pay up and shuddup. Seems like those big ole principles so important in February aren't worth paying for now.

I don't know what gives with this guy. Articles from several month ago list his occupation as an owner of a record and disc jockey supply business in Milwaukee, other articles list him as a schoolteacher at the same time. Maybe he went there for a vacation from both jobs.

...Clancy, who has an education degree from Beloit College. That explains a lot. I visited there once when college-hunting, and while it is rather small, Beloit College was/is the biggest haven for lefties, Communists, freaks, and anti-American sentiment that I had ever seen. It's Wisconsin's version of Berkeley.

Who writes these headlines? He's not being prosecuted for protesting the war in Iraq; he's being prosecuted for traveling to Iraq in violation sanctions imposed against Iraq. I suppose if he had gone there to choke his chicken the headline would have read "Man Fined $10,000 for Masturbation."
To: Hillarys Gate Cult
Fine him, assess penalties to him for not paying the fine, garnish his income if needed and throw his butt in jail.

He owns the record shop, but from previous stories, he is or was a substitute teacher.

"I went out of concern for our country, as well as the rest of the planet," said Clancy, a former Peace Corps volunteer. "The U.S. was interfering in an extremely destructive way, punishing Saddam's victims and breeding more terrorists." "And besides. The US had taken away all the children's crayons!!", said Clancy. "Where is Hillary?!?"
To: Hillarys Gate Cult
I have zero sympathy for this jerk. I hope this breaks him financially.
