August 12, 2003 -- LOS ANGELES - Two new polls yesterday showed Arnold Schwarzenegger winning the California gubernatorial race by a landslide, as embattled Gov. Gray Davis called the recall an "insult."
In a poll released by KABC-TV in L.A. last night, 66 percent who said they were "certain to vote" in the historic Oct. 7 California recall backed the removal of Davis, a Democrat, while 32 percent opposed it. Of the replacement candidates, Schwarzenegger beat Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, the ballot's only major Democrat, by 51 percent to 17 percent, according to the phone poll taken on the weekend.

"I'm very much for families, I'm very much for children and children's issues and all that stuff. I think that the children should have the first call in our treasury." Found this nugget of Arnold wisdom in a George Will article posted tonight. This guy sounds like a bleeding heart liberal...for the children.

"The recall is a bad idea, it's a waste of $70 million, and in my judgment, it's an insult to the 8 million people who went to the polls last November," Davis told reporters at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Holocaust and tolerance museum in West L.A. LOL. I haven't decided if I would have signed the recall petition if I had been in California or not. I, like many FReepers, get a little nervous when long established rules and procedures are chucked out and new precedents are established. But I am not going to lie and say that listening to Davis squawk like a goosed librarian isn't the bee's knees.
Kobe, shmooby!!!
The is political theatre at it's finest. Gray-out Davis epitomizes the free-spending, tax-gobbling, long-term Liberal loser so well. Arnold, der Terminator vrum Austria mit his mangled accents und dezigner zunglasses und (hopefully) bromizing to schmak duwn der zpecial indrests....
Wheeeeee!!!!!
And... yes, I know he is a RINO, a libertarian, and not a good Conservative... But let's face it, unless we want to kick him out of the Republican Party (can we even do that?) he is going to run as a Republican and most likely even win as a Republican.
Kicking sand in his face may not be a good idea down the road -- if it ever was.

"I come from the school where once an election is cast and someone is chosen to be the leader, everyone gets behind that leader and does the people's business," Davis said.
Operative word: leader. It doesn't apply to you, Gray Douchebag.

He's a moderate like Arnold. He was the only guy in American history who made the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games profitable.

That refers only to the children not slaughtered by Schwarzenkennedy's pro-abort allies. If they survive the womb, Schwarzenkennedy has a socialist future for them.

Arianna Huffington just proclaimed on Fox that she would, of course, raise taxes in California, "but only on those who can afford it".
Anyone who thinks this ditz is an independent, a liberal or a socialist is sadly mistaken. She's a commie. Listen closely to what she says if you can get past the numbing accent.

One would think people would get a clue with her. She is one of several opportunists who saw the opportunity to make money off frustrated conservatives during the Clinton years. Now she is making money off of liberals. She has no ethics, no values, and no desire to do anything except get publicity and make money.
To: freedomlover
If I am not mistaken, that is one of the organizations that Arnold has donated to -- personally. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Quite a lot of money, and for a long time. It was/is part and parcel of having a Dad in the Waffen SS, and needing to make it Hollywood. Think of it as pennence levied by the Geffen/Spielberg folks...
