I thought we already had a state sponsored media, pbs and Npr, after all my tax dollars are going to support it.

Margaret T. Gordon is a professor of news media and public policy at the Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington, and was formerly the dean.

Sheesh what a statist airhead. Remind me never to let my daughter major in journalism and/or public policy at the Evans School of public affairs.

What an unadulterated idiot.

Government funded media has worked so well around the world - China, USSR, Cuba, etc. No wonder this leftist twit would welcome it in the US.

God, she couldn't be any stupidier if you hit her repeatedly in the head with a ballpeen hammer.

American troops in Baghdad are said to have killed two sons

Their dad believes it.

And then there is the matter of the nonexistent or yet-to-be-found weapons of mass destruction.

Uh...you may want to check with the Kurds about it's existence.

Whack-job.

"In my view, the nation needs for the sake of its highly touted democracy to develop and support a nationally broadcast British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)-type channel (or two) of television news, a fully supported National Public Radio, and methods for supporting and rewarding courageous, high-quality and responsible print media. "

This Jerk *ff is asking for state run media as an answer to what he perceives to be a problem with the profit driven business of news media?!?! People will buy what they want. Fox is in the lead because it provides real balanced news. CNN, et al. are losing in the ratings and therefore are probably losing advertising $$$ (therefore are cutting staff and squeezing more out of the "journalists" who remain).

It never ceases to amaze me how little these morons understand how things work. It must be all those years they spend in their sheltered little world with their blinders on.

Hey, Margaret.

The founding fathers knew the importance of a free press. ANYONE who wants to can start a newspaper, a Web site, a magazine and take it the market.

Check out all the advocate press out there including Free Republic and the disadvantaged Rat offerings as well.

Our big nanny government does not need to create these journalistic efforts, anyone who can put several sentences together can do that.

If capitalism frightens you to the degree that everything that is market driven is suspect in your twisted Lib mind, just gather up some of your stupid rich celebrity friends and start your own "investigative" journalism effort and give it out for free.

In the meantime, shut your big, fat stinking pie-hole.

Well, I for one, don't believe in Saddam Hussein... I don't believe that he ever existed in the first place, or committed any attrocities, like filling those mass graves. After all, since we haven't found him yet, he must not exist! DON'T CONFUSE ME WITH THE FACTS!!!!
