Toronto politican wants the UN to move to Toronto!

They laughed when he said he'd bring the Rolling Stones to Toronto. But he pulled it off. But even the most skeptical would be hard pressed to believe Liberal M.P. Dennis Mills can pull this latest rabbit out of his hat. The Toronto-Danforth politician's new scheme to show the world Toronto is safe is to quite literally move that world here - by luring the United Nations headquarters to the city.

Mills believes his grandiose scheme would kill two big birds with one non-Rolling Stone. If the U.N. were to relocate to our waterfront, it would keep condo developers from overwhelming the area. And it would fit in with the city’s multicultural character and show that the body, which oversees the World Health Organization, isn’t afraid to come here now that S.A.R.S. is gone.

So how far fetched is the idea? Probably a lot. But Mills also notes that the current building in New York is in desperate need of repairs that would cost millions. And U.N. officials might entertain an offer to move if they thought their new facility could save them those big bucks.

Figures a Liberal would suggest that. I bet PM Cretin is on the phone right now trying to make the deal so he can have a legacy when he steps down in a few months.

Fine with me. I'm sure they can find a boarded up bordello somewhere downtown.

Hey,, whata great idea - but they can't move until they pay us for all those parking tickets they've racked up over the years... ;0)

That is only half the battle. Next (and more difficult) step get US out of the UN.

Good luck to Toronto in collecting on all those unpaid parking tickets they're going to get.

This is a fantastic idea!

I have stated before that I believe a move of the entire UN apparatus to an impoverished African nation was best, but this works!

I also believe that the Palestinians deserve a homeland and am willing to give them Paris.
