The numbers take a significant jump against Davis if Richard Riordan is on the ballot.

(So, I guess Gray Davis won't be making that presidential run after all.)
To: psychopuppy
The idea that the person being recalled be placed on the ballot to replace that person is fatuous on it's face. This is purely a desperation move.

What is this creep smoking....what part of certified recall with over a million signatures does greyout not understand.
No wonder he drove our state from gold to dross.
Nice try greyout ....now take your lumps.
To: psychopuppy
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Doofus IS on the ballot. He's on the first part, where the voter can vote to either retain or dump him. Seems simple enough...

Right now Savage is suggesting maybe the recall isn't a good thing.
Pfftt!
To: psychopuppy
... and list his name on the ballot among the candidates seeking to replace him ... Hi, in place of me, you get "me."

If Davis and his team had expended as much energy to get the budget
back in shape without raising taxes, as they have to dodge the recall,
he wouldn't be in this mess.
It isn't the fall that gets you Governor Gray Out. It's that sudden stop!
To: EggsAckley
How can Savage say that? Isn't he considering running for Governor?

Davis appearing as a candidate is tantamount to having his name appear twice on the ballot.

Here is where Red Davis gets to find out if there are any Judges that want to get on his runaway train to political oblivion.
There might be, however I suspect they will avoid this as Calif State Supreme Court Justices must stand for election, and Rose Bird and two of her flunkie judges were the last ones that tossed initiatives off the ballot only to be tossed themselves.

The idea that the person being recalled be placed on the ballot to replace that person is fatuous on it's face. It's also strickly prohibited by state law, according to a post on this topic last night.

Savage seems to change his views on a daily basis. I only listen to him for the first hour, and sometimes turn him off before that. Today he's worried that our recall will set a precedent and then we'll see recalls all over the country. Seems to me I've been hearing some Dims say that very thing.
To: psychopuppy
this was to be heard before the Supremes TODAY - anyword yet?
To: spokeshave
This is easy to understand. He is a DemocRAT. DemocRATS never believe that they are guided by the law. They are allowed to rape and commit perjury without losing support of their true believers. Davis, like the Clintons, will do absolutely anything to retain power.

From a pure political standpoint, I think Davis should remain. The stupid voters who voted for him in November deserve him. Also, it's good to see the Dems be an absolute failure in our biggest state.
To: pgkdan
Under California election law, the subject of the recall cannot be on the list of replacement candidates. Davis' allies are hoping the court can be convinced such an arrangement is unconstitutional.
What did you think was going to happen?
We should all know, by now, that the written law means only one thing, "we can get the courts to do that legislative thing they are so good at".

(two thirds majority means only the state SC will overturn the voters and make it a simple majority.)
To: psychopuppy
So put the bonehead's name on the ballot. It may take two or three dozen votes away from another democrat.
