This is a good way to run to the right of Bush on national security. Americans don't view the Saudis in a very positive light; it's smart to pander to that. They can say that if Bush were serious about avenging 9/11, he'd make sure that every person involved in 9/11 in any country in the world would be brought to justice-- even those in Saudi Arabia. It's a great argument because it's hard for Bush to explain the intracies of his policy to the average American.
They could run on that and unfair trade and our trade deficit and visa abuse with China, India, etc., and cut a pretty broad stripe into the Joe Sixpack voter.

Unfotunately the only one that has voiced this has been Buchanon, but the media has demonized him so that however clearly he states the position, the message is lost. The Pubs need an eloquent spokesman to carry this platform but I do not see it happening. There is noone lining anyone's pocket to speak out. These are truly populist positions in need of a prophet.
Bush is a good President, a good leader, and 300 percent better than anyone the Dems have to offer, but what this nation needs now is the foundations laid in those 4 principles. Bush is sour on 3 of them and lukewarm at best on the 4th.
And it is idiotically reckless.
I don't think we fully appreciate how fragile Saudi Arabia is at the moment. And what do they think would replace it?
Saudi "missionary" efforts accomplish two things for them: they extend ideological influence into economically important regions and they direct growing discontent outside of their borders. They'll collapse eventually, no doubt. A flourishing Democratic Republic in Iraq is our best hope against the Wahabis.
