Blood oozes out of apartment walls (Nice place, too bad we gotta go...)

In a scene straight out of a horror film, blood has been leaking out of the walls of an apartment in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad.

Forensic experts have identified the "red liquid" as human blood, shocking the apartment's 14 inhabitants, the Indian Express newspaper reported.

Hiralal Jethamal Shah, 70, first noticed it while bathing on Wednesday. He said his clothes were stained red. "I saw a red liquid oozing out of the bathroom floor in two places."

For more than 30 minutes the blood continued to leak from the kitchen and verandah.

The Shah family has lived in the apartment for 35 years, without incident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Jeetenda Rajgor initially said: "It appears as if someone has sprayed some red liquid."

Forensic scientists tested the liquid and confirmed it was human blood, but digging up the floor did not lead to further clues, the report said.

Police were planning to bring in sniffer dogs for more leads.

Blood on the floor: cops close case

Express News Service

Ahmedabad, July 27: WHETHER or not this family ‘‘has blood on its hands’’ is for you to decide. The Bhartiya Jan Vigyan Jatha (BJVJ), a voluntary organisation involved in creating awareness against superstition, has said that the blood found on the floor of a house in Maninagar area had been put there and was not a natural phenomena as was being claimed by the family.

The police seem to agree for they have closed the case. Maninagar Senior Police Inspector B I Patel said, ‘‘This was purposely done by the family. They have just made false claims and hence there is no criminal case against the family. We have closed investigation.’’

According to BJVJ chairman Jayant Pandya, their team had found that the owner of the house, Hiralal Jehtalal Shah (73), and his daughter-in-law Falguni had got the blood from a blood bank and had sprayed it on the floor. He alleged that the family was involved in black magic.

Pandya said the organisation was waiting for the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report. ‘‘Once we get the report from FSL, we will compare it with the report given to us by the local blood bank. If both reports match we will lodge a police complaint against the family.’’

Pandya said the organisation had identified a person who had accompanied Falguni to the blood bank to get the blood. ‘‘The blood was procured from a blood bank a couple of days before the incident under a fictitious name,’’ Pandya said. He refused to give the name of the blood bank.

He said the family had confessed that it was not a natural phenomena but was created by them at the insistence of Tantrik Swarup Swami of Kalupur for ‘‘ridding the family of misfortune and to attain wealth.’’

‘‘When we contacted Swarup Swami, he said had never advised the Shah family to resort to such means to attain wealth,’’ he said. Swami who runs his business from Kalupur area has been untraceable since.

Pandya said their inquiry had found that there was no blood on the floor till the two children of the house left for the school and two persons had their bath in the bathroom where the family claimed they first saw ‘‘blood oozing out of the floor’’.

Interestingly, it was only when Hiralal went for a bath that he created a hue and cry.

Pandya claimed that it were their repeated questions which made the family members confess their involvement. ‘‘Following such a wide publicity and fearing police action, they consulted a lawyer who advised them not to sign any document. This prevented us from taking their signature on an affidavit stating that the family was involved in the incident and that it was not a natural phenomena,’’ said Pandya.

When contacted, Hiralal Shah refuted all claims of Pandya. He said, ‘‘Why should we do such a thing? If we were into black magic we would not have informed the police. The claims by Pandya and the jatha are baseless and they are just doing so to get publicity. If my daughter-in-law had collected the blood from blood bank, get her identified by the blood bank person who gave her the blood. Does the blood bank give blood without a letter from the doctor?’’

After seeing that show for the first time tonight (usually watch the motorcycle show on the same channel), I'd have to believe they could do it!!
