The Democrats Want To Get You Drunk

by Reality Featured Writer:

Gary Schneider

The Democrats are mixing a dangerous cocktail of hyperbole and lies and want you to drink up. Their lack of any coherent platform on which to stand has once again caused them to fall off the wagon of political legitimacy and make yet another toast to deception and shamelessness. And their drinking buddies, the liberal media, are dutifully serving it up.

The first round of swill starts with sixteen factually accurate words in Bush’s State of the Union Address stating that British Intelligence had learned (and still maintains) that the now deposed Iraqi dictator sought uranium in Niger, Africa. Now, exaggerate their importance, misquote them, obscure other related facts, attempt to discredit the war in Iraq, seek to undermine U.S. credibility in the world and you have a delectable concoction of misinformation and political treachery. Cheers.

If you’re still thinking clearly, have a swig of half-truth…shaken and stirred. Take the projected budget deficit of $455 billion dollars for this fiscal year and delude yourself into believing that higher taxes, increased spending, and more entitlements will fix it. Then proceed to ignore fiscal reality and convince yourself that higher taxes don’t discourage economic activity, reduce government revenue, cost the government more and pressure interest rates to rise. Oh, and don’t forget to forget about the inherited recession and the increased homeland defense costs wrought by 9/11 ... Top it off with a jigger of hysterics and drink away. If you partake of this, you should be well on your way to voting Democrat.

Are you still coherent? Then have a shot of lies straight-up. Take a deep breath, because you will need a strong stomach for this one. Start with the war on terror (this includes Afghanistan and Iraq) and disregard the following:

The leadership of President Bush following 911 has been exemplary and has helped heal and embolden a nation.

An historic restructuring of government has been implemented that will better secure the United States from terrorist attack.

In Afghanistan, the Taliban have been routed, the people freed and a moderate government has been installed with astoundingly little loss of life.

Saddam Hussein has been removed from power with lightening speed, drastically reducing the threat to stability and peace in the Mid-East region. The Iraqi people have been freed from oppression and fear and the world has been relieved of a known sponsor of terrorism who was seeking weapons of mass destruction for use against the West.

Peace negotiations between Israel and a new Palestinian leadership have been enabled, with success now seemingly feasible.

After successfully denying the above, stir in the belief that the morale of our soldiers in Iraq is in a wild death spin, that the war in Iraq is Vietnam II, and that chaos and anarchy prevail there (all of which are profoundly false) … And there you have it – the Democrat’s brew.

Again, be careful what you imbibe, lest you get sick.

It is incontrovertible that truth, reason and reality are not political advantages possessed by the directionless Democrats who so desperately crave a return to the seat of power. They have thus opted again to backslide into their tried and untrue politics of calculated defraudation, and will no doubt continue to concoct new blends of this rotgut right up to Election Day.

The American people, though, have wisely chosen not to partake and remain quite sober. The sobriety test is President Bush’s approval rating which continues to hover at about 60% (source: CNN-USA Today Gallup poll, 7/21/03). However, as Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman correctly cautioned Saturday (July 26, 2003), these numbers will likely come down and Republicans must remain vigilant given the political parity that exists in this country. Recent good news on the economy, though, should assist in making their job a bit easier. Orders for durable goods are up 2.1% in June from May (nearly twice from what was projected), the Stock Market closed Friday on a 5 week high, unemployment claims were down by around 400,000 last week and single family home sales were up by a very strong 4.7% in June. Much to the chagrin of Democrats, the economy now appears to be turning around.

Nevertheless, the question persists: will Americans continue to maintain their clear headed discernment of fact and exercise unimpaired judgment as they head into 2004? … For this is what the Democrats surely fear the most.

I am of the opinion that the Democrats will be drinking alone, as they force down another glass of credibility on the rocks.

I think jack gillis dealt himself out after 9/11. He indicated such in a recent thread.

Smirk's lies about Niger uranium and alleged ties between OBL and Saddam were his best shot not his worst!

It's the Repukes driving MurryMom to drink, not the Dems. Every time I think abour 4 more years of the Smirking Chimp causing higher unemployment and more war, another can of Iron City looks good to me.

What part of "British intelligence says" didn't you understand? Do you really want to leave us with the impression that you can't read, or hear correctly? I find thus amazing Murrymom. Are you sure you don't want to correct the record here? Or were you indeed drinking during the State of the Union Address?
