The Saudi Press Agency reports that Egypt and Jordan have inaugurated a partially underwater pipeline that will allow Egypt to supply energy-strapped Jordan with 2.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year. The pipeline runs almost 250 kilometers across the Sinai Desert to the Red Sea, and then continues 15 kilometers underwater to the Jordanian port of Aqaba. The pipeline is scheduled to be extended in the coming years to northern Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Cyprus, and Europe. Egypt has potential gas reserves of 70 trillion cubic feet and hopes to become one of the world's top 10 exporters of natural gas in the next four years.
Considering the extremely high value of peace itself, is the disposition of the pipeline of great importance?

Only in the context of the value of the treaties. The Sinai oil fields were much more important. Who knows, maybe one day GWB can persuade Egypt and Jordan to send ambassadors to Israel (he's tried), or Egypt to reign in arms smuggling, in fulfillment of their obligations.

Now you've stepped over the line if you think a business deal has anything to do with politics of a third party. I am not advocating appeasement, and this is not appeasement. The treaty does not cover this pipeline.
