As much as I detest the former members of the military regime I find this to be a bad precedent. If governments are able to go back and retroactively renege on deals and promises made then we will not have an easy return to democracy the next time there is a coup.

These attempts by the left to try and bring to "justice" former dictators and officials of other governments is an incentive for the governments and dictators to fight to the last top retain power.
