Washington - The identity of an undercover CIA officer whose husband started the Iraq uranium intelligence controversy has been publicly revealed by a conservative Washington columnist citing "two senior administration officials."

Intelligence officials confirmed to Newsday yesterday that Valerie Plame, wife of retired Ambassador Joseph Wilson, works at the agency on weapons of mass destruction issues in an undercover capacity - at least she was undercover until last week when she was named by columnist Robert Novak.

What the hell is this guy doing?

I'm starting to get the feeling that Novak thinks he has drifted out of the "insider" loop and has increasingly become more negative and often bitter in his "scoops" on the Bush administration.

He has had one critical column after another, and his "Scoops" are often wrong. Yes, he had the 1994 races right, but how accurate was he on 2002?

Check deeper into the story. Wilson and his wife were involved in leaking info that was designed to discredit Bush, which in turn led to Tenet having to, in effect, apologize for the info that Wilson leaked. Simply put, you mess with the bull, you get the horns.

What I think is funny is that Newsday appears to be critical of Novak's sourcing methods, but turns around and does the same thing. "Senior administration officials" vs. "intelligence officials". Newsday, in essence, is corroborating Novak's reporting.

Sort of reminds me of, "whatever you say, don't mention the Susquehanna Hat Company!" "Susquehanna Hat Company?!?!?! Slowly I turned...."

Nonsense, her life is no more at risk today than it was last week when she was telling her husband, retired career ambassador Wilson, about discussions she knew about between Mr. Foley (her boss) and Mr. Joseph, the gentleman on Condoleeza Rice' staff concerning the suspect "16 words".

The Wilson's actions here might well be construed as espionage conducted against the NSC, and that might well put her life at some risk if W decides to prosecute.

Let's be clear people. Wilson and his wife are on the left. So is Newsday. Whatever Ms. Plame was up to, it wasn't done to help the Bush Administration.

A very cagey game is being played by Wilson and his wife. Apparently somebody in the Bush administration decided to call them on it.

Sounds to me like the CIA, FBI and all other police agencies in the Federal Government have tremendous problems and maybe up too and including being infiltrated by double agents or agents being involved in politics, maybe both.
The Agencies in the federal government respobsible for policing and intelligence sure took a licking in the 90s and I am affraid we have big problems, plus all of those agents apparently know how to beat the polygraph.

Robert Novak shouldn't have revealed this woman's secret...He should be fired for irresponsible reporting that may have put her life at risk!

Her husband should have thought of the consequences before he joined forces with the NY Slimes. The moment he opened his mouth, he put his wife's job in jeopardy.

At any rate, it might explain why Wilson, with no previous intel skills and an overtly anti-war agenda, was chosen for the job. His connections.

Wilson was on 'Hardball' complaining about the administration revealing his wife's position last night.

Novak could have gotten his information here on FR because her work for the CIA and her name were in a post on one of the threads discussing 'WMD lies' and Wilson late last week or this weekend. Not sure which thread because I was following many.

Her identity, evidently, wasn't much of a secret! Just something else to blame on the Bush administration.

She was evidently one of the numerous clintonoid agents in the CIA busy undermining Bush with unattributed leaks and lies. They should all be fired, beginning with George Tenet.

Robert Novak has always been known as the "Prince of Darkness" because of his unflappable pessimism.
