I saw them when the Palladium was still going in NYC. Blew the doors off the place. Halford came out on a Harley.

As a teenager I too denied he could be gay. Halford was too damned cool to be gay. His recent solo CD's have also been great. I will travel to see the metal gods return. Justin , Christina, Britney and the rest of you poster pretenders it's time to run and hide! The Priest is BACK!

I think when you get right down to it Freddy liked everything and everyone he could.

You're in for surpriiiizzzzzze, you're in for a shooOOOOOOOOCK!
Man, one of the top ten best voices ever in rock. He must have done opera at some time, nobody sings like that half-cocked.
Then he had KK Downing and Tipton behind him. IMO they were and still are the best tag team guitar players on earth.

I don't know if I was in denial so much as didn't think about it. I remember when the announcement came my reaction was pretty much "yeah I guess you are". Priest was a great band, Rob had a great voice, that was all that mattered to me.

Gives a whole new meaning to his songs and album titles, don't it?
"Ram It Down"...
"Point Of Entry"...
"Jawbreaker"...
Ick...

"Resurrection" is a great CD (better than anything Priest put out without him, IMHO). I never got into "Crucible" all that much, but the "Resurrection Live" album is one of my all-time favorites.

They've been together since 1974 or 1975 I think. So "30th Anniversary" isn't covering just the "cool" years, it's covering since they first got started.
You should see the early videos from the 1974-1975 period where Rob has this really long hair, and looks all fey and girly...wearing a blousy, chiffon shirt.
Yikes.

SWEEEEET!
For all those not informed about the greatness that's Rob H., give a listen to "Hammer and the Anvil" off the Painkiller disk or a live version of Heading Out to the Highway!
Rock, be Rocked, or Step Aside (a-la Z-Rock).
Trajan88... a vet of two live Halford-led Priest concerts. See ya Ripper Owen, don't go away mad, just go away.

Back to working in Office Max...
Nah, actually, Ripper is well known enough, now, that he'll probably be picked up by another band. He's got a great voice and while he's no "Rob" he is still really, really good.
Some other band would be crazy not to have him as a front man. He's got pipes.

Yeah, the "Rocka Rolla", "Sad Wings" period, before they settled on an image and sound. More in the experimental prog rock vein of the times. Back when bands were given a chance to grow and find themselves.

I ran into Halford and his band in the 80s in a movie theater in San Diego. He was wearing shorts that didn't leave much to the imagination.
Oh yes, the movie that was playing? Spinal Tap!
To: Im Your Huckleberry
He's got pipes. Therein lies the problem. Does any band have a need for pipes these days?
Hopefully, Priest will document the tour with a Live DVD. Their "Live In London" DVD is cool, but I'd like to see one with Halford.

I had absolutely no idea when I was a teenager that Rob Halford was gay. He would have had to act like Liberace for me to notice back in those days. That sort of thing just didn't make my radar screen.
