Farrell's comments sound intentionally racist; Dusty's just sound extremely moronic.

Chicago Cubs manager Dusty Baker, who is African-American, is being urged to apologize for saying that blacks and Hispanics are better acclimated to sun and heat because of racial characteristics.

I don't know if this is scientifically factual, but it does make sense. Isn't their darker skin more acclimated to continuous sun exposure?

I don't get why ole Dusty is being skedaddled....

Sports Director????

They've got a SPORTS TEAM????

Or is he the guy that shakes down sports teams? They've probably got a Pharmacutecal Director, a Political Director, etc.

Just goes to show that paying the extortionist doesn't mean he will stop harassing you.

Shame on NASCAR for giving so much money to Rainbow/PUSH.

What did they expect?

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

So what does "Rainbow/PUSH" need a Sports Director for? What is it that he does (supposedly)?

They damned well should apologize...FYI...

The NASCAR community is built on a shared passion for a sport unlike any other. With over 75 million fans, we want our sport to look like America and attract the best talent and the most dedicated fans in the world. We recognize that to sustain our growth and broaden the appeal of our sport, a concerted industry-wide commitment is required to promote diversity and help create opportunities throughout the motorsports industry. To that end, in 2000 we formed the NASCAR Diversity Council in order to work closely with motorsports industry leaders toward achieving these goals.

NASCAR, and the entire industry, continue to take important steps to expand the diversity of our sport. These include our Diversity Summer Internship Program; scholarships to Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic Serving Institutions; support of the Urban Youth Racing School; and most recently, the NASCAR College Tour presented by the Coca-Cola Company; and our partnership with the NASCAR Technical Institute.
