The world seems to have two camps - appreciative people that are under or have just escaped despotic regimes where the US has no influence - and snot-nosed pampered scumbags who we shower with love and attention - and who then hate us. We've got to figure out how to save the world while maintaining respect.
My Dad - an old hand from the old crew at Langley - used to tell me that the Soviets were smart...when the people complained...they made everything worse...then they brought things back to where they were - and the sheeple shut up.
Translated to our methods and ethics..we need to always keep one foot out the door...ready to bolt when the unappreciate POS's get a tad too demanding. Come to think of it...that works in a LOT of contexts..both foreign and domestic.....
