Talk about lining up the competition. President Bush's chief political adviser has seen the possible presidential candidates among the Democrats and has found one he apparently thinks his man can beat: former Vermont governor Howard Dean.
Karl Rove tried to stir up enthusiasm for Dean marchers yesterday at the 37th annual Palisades Citizens' Association Fourth of July parade along the District's MacArthur Boulevard, which always attracts plenty of politicians.
As a dozen people marched toward Dana Place wearing Dean for President T-shirts and carrying Dean for America signs, Rove told a companion, " 'Heh, heh, heh. Yeah, that's the one we want,' " according to Daniel J. Weiss, an environmental consultant and former political director of the Sierra Club who was standing nearby. " 'How come no one is cheering for Dean?' "
Then, Weiss said, Rove exhorted the marchers and the parade audience: " 'Come on, everybody! Go, Howard Dean!' "

Dean the centrist........ LOL Well, Dean is to the right of Dennis J. Kucinich, that parody of a politician, that vamp of Cleveland, that idol of Willie Nelson.
Kucinich must be in the race to keep Dean from falling off the left end of the political spectrum. Maybe Kucinich does have a purpose after all.

Dean the centrist........ LOL I first heard that laughable tag line applied by a democrat spokesmouth on TV last weekend; proving that the democrats are in trouble if that hate America leftist wins the nomination. I also thought it funny that Chris Matthews said that Bush should try spending his recently gained campaign cash on getting Dean elected. Looks like karl Rove took notice...LOL.

I was rooting for Al Sharpton, but the more I think about it, the more I think a Dean-Kucinich ticket would make perfect sense.
It has balance:
- An ex-governor/an ex-Mayor & legislator.
- A guy who once worked as an M.D. and another who has lived in fantasyland all his life.
- Exclusion of any minority participation except in window dressing spots, a staple of the WWLs (whiney white liberals).
- Geographic balance-- a New Englander and a Midwesterner.
- Physical balance which would make Barney Franks jealous.

Dean is the only one Bush could beat? Gee. I hope that doesn't mean the Dems will nominate someone Bush can't beat -- like Kucinich, Sharpton, Gephardt, Lieberman, Kerry, Graham or Edwards.
