It is kinda strange that the 1812 Overture has become so associated with the US Independence day, given that it was composed to celebrate a Czarist Imperial Russian military victory. Of course, since that was a victory over the French, why not celebrate?

Of course, since that was a victory over the French, why not celebrate? Because beating the French is like going fishing for blue marlin and catching a bonita. You kind of want to throw it back.
