Secretary of State Preparing to Delay Recall Election Until Next Year !

Update from the Recall Gray Davis Committee

The Honorable Howard Kaloogian, Chairman

RECALL GRAYDAVIS

- Immediate Call to Action -

Secretary of State Preparing to Delay Recall Election Until Next Year !

Friday, June 27, 2003 – 3:30 P.M.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

People are becoming outraged at the shocking news leaking from the Secretary of State’s Office. Democrat Secretary of State Kevin Shelley is making plans to obstruct the public will and ignore the 1,000,000+ recall petitions we have already collected. The signs point to his deliberately ignoring the law and California constitution to DELAY the election until next year – still hoping that legal challenges will totally destroy the recall effort.

We haven’t seen rigged elections like this since the collapse of the Soviet Union. We can’t sit by and allow the inside politicians to steal this recall campaign and destroy it.

There has been a great deal of discussion today regarding statements made by Secretary of State Kevin Shelley’s office indicating they plan to intentionally delay the counting and verification of recall signatures.

The Secretary of State’s office has made an internal decision to advise counties NOT to count and verify hundreds of thousands of signatures they have already received.

As reported today by the Sacramento Bee’s Dan Weintraub, the consequences of this will be severe:

If this ruling stands, it will delay considerably the verification process and the date by which the recall qualifies for the ballot. It would almost certainly delay the election until March.

Please read the entire column by Mr. Weintraub by CLICKING HERE Weintruab

The worst part of this diabolical plot is that the Davis forces are planning to find a judge who is a political ally of Davis who to try and throw out the entire recall campaign! The politicians are afraid that the people have finally had enough and are about to take back their government. We can’t let them steal this from the will of the people.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ACTION ITEM #1

FLOOD THE SECRETARY OF STATE’S OFFICE WITH PHONE CALLS, EMAILS, FAXES

We warned Mr. Shelley’s office before not to thwart the democratic process of the recall effort.

This is his last chance -- Mr. Shelley must stop playing political games with the law. He must stop providing cover for his friend and failed Governor, Gray Davis. We have a duty, as does he as an elected official, to hold Davis accountable to the voters for his lies and deceit regarding the state’s massive budget crisis.

Here is the contact information to reach Shelley’s office and voice your protest. DEMAND that the counties follow the law and count and verify signatures on a continuous basis each and every day. No more stalling!:

ACTION ITEM #2

WE’VE STARTED A RECALL GRAY DAVIS LEGAL DEFENSE FUND

Since this recall effort began we have relied on legal assistance to ensure that the effort could go as far as it has. Most of this assistance has been provided free of charge.

Today, I instructed our campaign leadership to set up a legal defense fund so that we can begin a full-time effort to fight the Davis Administration’s “illegal” or “questionable” attempts to derail the recall process.

Davis and his allies first started an anti-recall machine that promoted harassment drills around the state to intimidate and confuse people who were trying to sign a recall petition.....

The US has had some riots and problems in its urban centers in the past. But we haven't had an actual insurrection in a long, long time.

I think the Dems in Calif should be very careful.

Wow..how shocking. Good thing the US Supreme Court recently decided that state governments don't matter anymore. Why don't THEY just handle the recall?

Time to read Paine's, "Common Sense" by torch light, to a receptive mob, on the steps of the Capital in Sacramento.

Sure. Log off for a few minutes and ... sigh

Shelley and davi$ misunderstand what the initiative process is all about. It is about a People's will to rise up and fight their own govt when the times and said govt's action become so egregious.

If they want to take this to another level, So be it!

Our finest hours lay ahead, while our adversaries defeat in Sacramento is assured by such ploys and is just a matter of time.

November 2004 will be the beginning of the end of the demRatic Party in this state. It has been their choice, along withn the media's to make it such.

So it is written, so shall it be.

Unless Im missing something the website says JUNE 27, 2003. It already happened.

I heard an interview on Laura Ingram show this afternoon and the person she was talking to said the Secretary of State decided not to stall after he was told that he could be next.

A similar event happened in the last century.

A militia stormed a courthouse and took it over after a local sheriff rigged an election and refused to allow a count of the ballots.

The milita seized them and used their power to force state authorities to get involved and review the grievance.

Of course that's from memory and I could be wrong.

yea bucko!(gray davis) your still the governor of this state aren't you?
well- do your job and make sure that the other employees of this state follow the laws of this state. even if it does mean your job. have the intestinal fortitude to "DO THE RIGHT THING" and direct the sect of state to follow the law. the valid voters of this once great state want to be heard. these kinds of shenanigans really do piss people off. but- most people are hard working (and probably like me are dammed tired when they get home from work) and they shake their heads in disgust, but rarely have the energy to want to fight against these ridiculous actions by our officials.

Yup, they emailed me and it made me sick. Here is my email to Mr. Shelly:

Dear Mr. Shelly,
So far the effort to recall Gray Davis has garnered over one million signatures. By the time the deadline comes up, expect to see another one million unhappy Californians sign this petition. If you think you and Gray can stall this action, think again. Even in California, you can't find a judge that politically suicidal to help you thwart this effort. After Davis is recalled, we'll come after your job and anyone else who helps subvert the will of the people.

Dude, just give it up and save yourself...(have a nice day)

Sincerely,

XXXX XXXXXXX

That f@cker...

Recall foes try to tie Issa to Nazis

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!

Recall foes try to tie Issa to Nazis

His campaign table appears in a video of a gun show where swastikas were also displayed.

By Margaret Talev -- Bee Capitol Bureau

Published 2:15 a.m. PDT Wednesday, July 2, 2003

A group created by organized labor to derail a recall against Gov. Gray Davis on Tuesday showed a willingness to play hardball politics when it attempted to indirectly link a Republican congressman financing the recall campaign to Nazi sympathizers.

At a news conference, a spokesman for Taxpayers Against the Governor's Recall ran a 10-minute videotape shot by Democratic operatives during now-U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa's failed run for the U.S. Senate in 1998. The video showed an Issa campaign table set up at the entrance to a Southern California gun show; elsewhere on the grounds, the video showed one or more exhibits displaying a flag with a swastika.

Issa spokesman Jonathan Wilcox dismissed the video footage as "a crude tactic and gutter politics" and said it indicated desperation on the part of Davis allies. Wilcox also called the congressman, a Christian of Lebanese descent who has traveled to the Middle East to encourage peace, "a friend of Israel."

The video never shows Issa, nor does it record any interaction among Issa campaign supporters and anyone displaying Nazi paraphernalia. Instead, the lens zooms in on images of swastikas inside a building at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds, which was hosting the Great Western Gun Show, then pans outdoors, where an Issa for Senate table was set up next to a National Rifle Association registration booth.

"These are the things that are on display at gun shows like this," said Carroll Wills, a spokesman for the group calling itself Taxpayers Against the Governor's Recall. "It's not to suggest necessarily that Congressman Issa is himself a Nazi sympathizer. However, I think that there are an awful lot of politicians who would eschew the idea of participating in any event where that type of flag is shown."

Chuck Michel, a spokesman for the California Rifle and Pistol Association, said World War II memorabilia made up a fraction of the wares at 8,000 exhibitor tables, and that Nazi paraphernalia was only a tiny portion of that war memorabilia.

"Right next to that Nazi flag, there's probably a Medal of Honor and Allied memorabilia," he said. "To try to say that's what the gun show was about is the height of deceit."

Michel also said Issa was not the only one trying to enlist support at a show that attracted 40,000 visitors during one weekend; local law-enforcement agencies and branches of the U.S. armed forces also had recruitment tables there. "Our law-enforcement agencies are recruiting the same caliber of people they (anti-recall forces) are condemning."

The Tuesday morning news conference where the video was shown had been billed an opportunity for gun control advocates to criticize Issa for his support of federal measures favored by the NRA and gun makers.

Wilcox said of the congressman's gun platform, "Darrell Issa believes strongly in law-abiding citizens' right to protect themselves."

Issa's opponents tried to make guns an issue in 1998, after a former employee claimed the wealthy businessman had once tried to intimidate him by displaying a firearm. No charges were brought, and Issa said the incident never happened.

Issa only recently disclosed one gun-related incident; he said he was fined $100 three decades ago for possession of an unregistered firearm that was his brother's but declined to go into detail.

Representatives for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and other groups on Tuesday instead highlighted Issa's support of federal legislation, including a measure granting gun makers immunity in certain lawsuits.

Asked why the video highlighted swastikas if guns were the issue, Wills said he was merely airing unedited video shot for the campaign of U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. Boxer would have faced a general election campaign against Issa had he won the primary that year.

All this is from Davis' Operation Research to smear committee:

Recall chief held twice on illegal gun charges Issa convicted in '70s on misdemeanor count

It was only a few short years ago that Gray Davis had visions of the presidency. He is going to be thrown out of office whether it gets delayed several months. He is gone.
