My only concern would be that he would run ae a Republican to gum up the works, not to win the Presidency. This moron Clark thinks he's Eisenhower-- this guys psych file is probably an asskicker. I think he might be Bubba's Ozarkian Candidate. I don't know what they're up to, but you could bet it ain't good for America.

In business jargon, the barriers to entry are too high for Wesley Clark in 2004.
Or anybody else, for that matter.

It is just a publicity thing, to enhance his stature as a knight on a white horse, above partisanship. It is total BS. The odds of him running against Bush in a GOP primary are close to absolute zero.

You're absolutely, 100 % correct ! :-)

I think he'll run as a dem if he runs for anything. He'll be John Anderson at best as an indy IMO, and would get trounced in the GOP primary. I doubt anyone tied to Klinton would get 1 GOP vote in my county.(We'll likely have caucuses instead of a primary in 04)

The only ex-military commander who could have a serious run is Colin Powell, and, from all appearances, he doesn't have the stomach for the trench warfare of politics.

You don't think there is a Dem constituency for Dovish (or just contrarian) military types (except Kosovo) of uncertain views on domestic issues? Is that why you don't think he will sweep Sheila Jackson Lee's (or whatever her name is) district, or Jerry Nadler's district?

The one thing I think the dems may try is the "chickenhawk" BS. Clark could add that dimension to the race.

"And that he is being groomed to be Hillary's VP running mate."
That makes sense.

What about Tommy Franks, or have you forgotten him already?
I take the position that any military guy with any reltionship to Clinton is a dead battery.

"I served 34 years in uniform. I was 38 years, counting my West Point time. I had "U.S." on both collars. I'm essentially non-partisan, but I do have some views about what the country should be doing."Spoken like a true politician who wants to have it both ways and does not want to commit to an ideal.A pox on them all.
To: faithincowboys
Why doesn't he just run as a LOSER?

SO could Kerry. I think that is a non-starter. Are they suggesting that we shouldn't have gone to war in Afghanistan or Iraq?
After 9-11, a war had to be fought, and whether the Commander-in-Chief had a war record like Audie Murphy was immaterial.
Both will often have to explain why they were ardent Clinton partisans, if military service is essential, they picked an awfully traitorous, draft-dodging fellow to run with.

He is being groomed as a spoiler. Primary or third party spoiler to direct him as a 2003 Ross Perot retread. The theory being to recreate the 1992 three way division.
I say this guy's interview. His eyes are SOOOO creepy. He reminds me of psychopath.
To: blackbart.223
This, of course, is a new pathetic tact. He has been totally affiliated with the Dems, and this is a Clintonesqe move. Does anybody believe that Clark isn't a Democrat hack?
If someone is interested in the well being of the country, they generally don't serve at the pleasure of a terrible traitor like Bill Clinton. This guy is over!
To: longtermmemmory
Ross always seemed genuine, and he had money, and he had the benefit of rescuing his employees from the terrorists in the Mideast.
Sissy Clark ain't no Ross Perot, and America will be reluctant to fall for that again. Of course, voting Perot was giving a vote to Clinton, and I don't think many people are in the mood to see a Clintonite back in the White House!

You may recall Fox News Sunday some months ago ran tape of a reporter's attempt to get an interview with Clark.
Clark came out of a building; the reporter asked Clark a question; Clark said, "Let me ask my boss first," and used his cell phone.
Clark called CNN and asked permission; CNN said no; Clark told the reporter no comment and walked on.
So, Wesley Clark wore U.S. on both collars--and CNN tatooed on his [deleted].
Yeah, real Commander In Chief material.

What about Tommy Franks, or have you forgotten him already? Actually, I had. Franks couldn't conduct a decent news conference; that black General put him to shame.
I like guys with passion. Bush has passion, Guiliani has passion.
I'm solidly pro-life, but I'd vote for Guiliani for president in a heartbeat.
There's a man who would never lie to you.

Tommy Franks has absolute authenticity. He eminded me of John Wayne. I absolutely adore Tommy Franks. By the way, don't let the accent fool you, Franks is brilliant-- he has a great strategic mind and can even speak Arabic!
