Gunning for Issa, Davis stoops to new low

Gray Davis forces showed Tuesday just how desperate they are, using video footage to try to link recall funder Darrell Issa to Nazi memorabilia once displayed at a Los Angeles County gun show. The German party symbols were in one building at a gun show attended by thousands of people at the Los Angeles County fairgrounds. A sponsor said there were 8,000 exhibitors at the event. Outside, an Issa for Senate table displayed literature for his 1998 campaign. "These are the things that are on display at gun shows like this," said Carroll Wills, a spokesman for the group calling itself Taxpayers Against the Governor's Recall, according to the Sacramento Bee. "It's not to suggest necessarily that Congressman Issa is himself a Nazi sympathizer. However, I think that there are an awful lot of politicians who would eschew the idea of participating in any event where that type of flag is shown." Good God.

"Gunning for ISSA, Davis stoops to new low"

I would opine that the Davis crowd is getting really ISSAD off!

The SF Chronicle had a hit piece on Issa today. It had to do with a 30 year old misdemeaner gun charge that he pleaded guity to. The Davis people are really getting desperate. The Chronicle is a house organ for the Dems.

I sure hope someone besides Issa runs. I am more concerned about his PLO connections than 30 year-old misdemeanor charges.

Mulholland's Drive: CA Dem Party spokesman Bob Mulholland's close relationship with Tony Blair's Labour Party is getting some attention in the British press.

"Labour wants him kept in the closet," writes Ed Harriman of The Guardian. "Which is a pity. Because Mulholland has played a key role as Labour has remodelled itself on cut-throat US politics. He's also shown them the black arts of how to rubbish opponents with their powerful Excalibur computer, about which Millbank is so secretive. [H]is contribution to reinventing the Labour machine - and with it the creeping Americanisation of British politics - has been substantial."

Mike Madrid, former political director of California's Republican party, is quoted as saying that Mulholland has "brought political discourse down to a new low level," and another GOP opponent anonymously calls him a "total scumbag."

Mulholland's take: "People don't remember the good things about your guy. They remember the bad things about the other guy. That's what sticks. You gotta go negative to win.... If there's no knives and guns and it's legal, then what the hell, that's politics." [6/1]

If Mother Teresa had run against Davis they'd have pictures of her standing near a brothel.

This is nothing new for this creep. He's done it over and over throughout his career. What's really said is that the lazy lefties in the press continue to drink his coolaid.

You mean look what Simon did to himself, and they just sat back and enjoyed, right?

I mean, what kind of idiot, regardless of their conviction of the justness of their cause, doesn't immediately settle a fraud trial when they're running for governor?

Then again, probably the same idiot (Simon) who decided that it would be a good idea to invest in payphone companies right around when cell phones were becoming affordable.

Simon was caught between the Devil and the deep blue on that one.

If he settled they would say "SEE HE's GULITY!!" and he losses. He fights it to proove he was innocent, then they bleed it for all it is worth, then bury the fact that he won the case on page E43.

Now I will sit down and chant the matra:

Repeat after me

I don't agree with Issa on the issues but he strikes me as the kind of guy who can more than take care of himself, particularly in this kind of situation.

Likewise, but frankly Governor Gumby's comments bordered on idiocy.

My father was in the 5th Marines and fought on Iwo Jima. He also had a Japanese sword and a Japanese rifle kept from that battle. I would not envy the man who called him a Japanese sympathiser.

Democrates do seem to stretch the imagination when desperate.
