Recall supporters expect counties to comply

It looks as if the Davis Recall supporters won’t be challenging Kevin Shelley in court over the signature verification process. Rescue California consultant David Gilliard tells me that the campaign has been surveying the big counties and believes that most if not all will go ahead and verify the signatures as they come in, as opposed to waiting 30 days as Shelley has told them they may. If that pans out, I believe the recall will qualify for the ballot sometime around the first week in August. The soonest would be July 23, but I expect some counties to still be counting petitions by then. My guesstimate gives them a week or two to verify the stragglers. If things do move that quickly, we would be talking about an election in October, rather than Nov. 4, the date many believed would be a natural. One reason that distinction could make a difference: the city and county of San Francisco votes Nov. 4 for a new mayor and could supply a load of votes against the recall.

Sounds to me like they have another tactic they think they can use to stop it. I would be very suspicious of this.

I suspect that the more conservative counties will count the votes quickly--the RAT infested ones will count as slowly as possible.

Since the RAT infested ones are the most populous, this will make it more difficult to get on the ballot this fall.

I smell a lawsuit coming...

I think some of the big counties will keep counting as they get them - because they don't want to be in a position of suddenly being jammed up, counting them all at once.

I sent off an emergency fix request. I'm sure you did too. Hey, I've done that when posting some pretty important threads for the FRN. Welcome to the club.

This recall election will be like nothing we've ever seen before in this state. If Ahnold jumps in, we may even get the LA TV stations to divert some of their reporters from covering freeway chases and breast implants to the election. LOL.

Ah I think we can safely say Davis doesn't mind burning cash in this state.

I like Anol but I'm not sure we'd be happy with him as our state's chief executive. I did see where the Kopekne Kid said he couldn't endorse him. Gotta love that family. Anol, didn't anyone take you aside and warn you? LOL I wouldn't risk my children's future on those genes.

I think Ahnold is the only Republican who can succeed in taking out Davis. Issa is way way way too easy to demonize into oblivion.

I think Davis is gone. This budget situation is going to get damned ugly. You watch how bad it gets. Not only that, nobody runs against Davis. It's him on his record. You vote him up or down and chose a replacement.

Personally, I'd like to see Tom McClintock as governor. Things are bad enough that we don't need some amateur to come in to run the show. McClintock has what it takes to deal with the legislature. Bill Jones works for similar reasons.

Whoever comes in, I want someone bold and brash. They need to take it to the legislature big-time outing them for what passed for what they've done to the state. As much as I don't like Davis, this isn't just about him and we need to capitalize on that.

San Diego is delaying 30 days, while LA county isn't, according to the SD elections official and someone from one of the recall groups who were on the Roger Hedgecock show yesterday. I would have expected the opposite, given how supportive of democrats LA is.

Sally McPherson from SD now says she is going to join the bandwagon (such as Connie McCormick from LA) and verify the signatures received without waiting.
