Iran, Russia to Set Timing For Delivery of Fuel to Bushehr Plant
MOSCOW -- Russia and Iran will fix a date for the delivery of nuclear fuel to Iran shortly, the Russian Ministry of Atomic Energy announced on Monday.
An unidentified spokesman with the ministry said the Russian and Iranian working groups in their debates on Tuesday and Wednesday will set the timing of the delivery which is meant for the Unit 1 of Iran's Bushehr Power Plant.
The debates come in the course of the visit by the President of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) Gholam-Reza Aqazadeh who arrived here Monday morning on a four-day visit to discuss details of Iran-Russia nuclear cooperation, IRNA reported.
The spokesman said Aqazadeh and the Russian Atomic Energy Minister Alexander Rumyantsev Monday discussed technical issues relating to the construction of the Unit 1 of the plant and also the shipment of nuclear fuel.
He further stressed that Moscow has no problem in providing Iran with nuclear fuel.
Aqazadeh's visit is strongly overshadowed by U.S. propaganda about Iran's nuclear activities to the effect that Iran is developing atomic weapons by using the fuel that Russia provides for the Bushehr nuclear plant.
Iran has categorically denied this, stressing that its nuclear activities are meant for peaceful purposes and are closely supervised by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Hope the Russians didn't get paid ahead of delivery time.
