Backers of a constitutional amendment to declare marriage a covenant between a man and woman are calling last week's Supreme Court sodomy ruling a boost, but they say it will take a state endorsing homosexual "marriage" to force a vote.

This article's headline is probably the understatement of the year! Boost is right!

I agree with you, PhiKapMom ! Finally, someone looking to make lemonade out of lemons !

I've gotten pretty tired of all the "Woe is me ! We're doomed ! Doomed I say !" type sentiment that's posted over and over. Too many so-called conservatives are too ready to roll over and play dead.

I am so glad to meet another fellow optimist! You are so right and if people went through life making lemonade out of lemons instead of hand wringing and whining, this Country would be a better place!

Here's what I wrote on another thread:

Oddly enough, SCOTUS's poor ruling may be just the defense that those who oppose Gay Marriage need. Had they used the reasoning that "if straights can do it legally, then so can gays", it would have been far tougher to combat the Gay Marriage movement. It is pretty difficult to say that an official civil ceremony whose results are made very public and whose consequences affect the public (tax status changes, insurance changes, etc) is protected by the "Right to Privacy".

That, along with the outrage of millions who disagree with the ruling, can certainly give the movement a boost.
