The totally insane thing about this is that it is logically impossible for a single person (1 person) to be "diverse".
Suppose a room contains one (1) person who has race, creed, or color X. Then 1/1 = 100% of the people in that room are of race, creed, or color X. A less diverse population is simply not possible.
"Diversity", to the extent that it exists, is only a meaningful concept when applied to groups of things. It cannot be applied to any single individual thing.

OK, this is a great marketing opporunity. Why not market a "YOU TOO CAN BE DIVERSE: THE DO-IT YOURSELF HOMOSEXUAL KIT"
Kit includes:
- An "I'm Queer and I'm Folk" bumper sticker
- A case of Zima beer
- A subscription to the New York Times
And much more!

Would being a conservative offer "diverse" opinions to some workplaces?
Or will politics forever be a criteria for discrimination?
"You can't discriminate on the basis of what goes on in the bedroom or church but you can discriminate on the basis of what goes on at the polling center."

I did a search for Gay/Bi jobs in Internet/E-commerce, 29 came up, with Intel and Verizon being the most numerous hiring companies. One Gay/bi job from Intel is for a content manager who can work in Israel, and another Intel job is for a programmer/analyst to work in Bangalore India. Looking further, it seems most of the Gay/Bi jobs from Intel are for work in Asia, for whatever reason

Well, I did a search on my job niche and in my geographic area -
Senior Software Developer
on Diversity I got 1 hit at Sprint
on "normal" monster I got 41 hits.
I was really expecting them to say something in the job posting on "diversity" about having to be non-white/hetero.

Hubby tried for a YEAR sending out resumes to monster.com ..and they're all fake jobs! I don't think they're necessarily fake jobs, but the cost of sending out an e-mail resume is pretty close to zero, so job postings get about fifty thousand resumes. The result is that any given resume is lost in the noise.
I talked with a guy who reviewed resumes, and he said that e-mail was ignored. And he also said, use white paper!

I stand corrected.

I think Ward Connerly's Racial Privacy Initiative is a great idea for fighting this wickedness. I've got a variation that I think everyone can do on their own: If you are ever presented with any sort of government or corporate form demanding to know your race or ethnicity, check "other" (if available), fill in the wrong one, or make something up. Just refuse to play along with their perverted little game. If enough people in the country did this, the whole stinking, putrid system would eventually collapse under its own weight.

Here we go with the comparison of people with the SADD sickness with people o' color.

A lot of people here will probably disagree with me, but I support any private (not government) business' right to hire or not hire according to whatever criteria they like. Race, sexual orientation, religion, or whatever. I recognize that it is a legal issue, but I don't see that it should be.I don't disagree with you at all, you're right on the money, however with the diversity crowd this only goes one way. Ever try having a monster-like job posting site for whites only? You'd be arrested. How many times have you seen scholorships for "African Americans" or "Latinos"? By definition they're exclusive. Now how many scholorships for "Caucasian Americans"? ....Never happens.

So you want to go back to the days when blacks could not get a hotel room in certain towns? Just because you believe people should be free to do something doesn't mean you want them to do that thing.
Most of us think that using freedom of speech to propogate racism is disgusting and undesireable. But few people want to make it illegal. Likewise, just because you don't want to make racist use of property rights illegal, does not mean you support racism.
If you offer a service to the public, it is reasonable that you should treat all customers equally.
It is usually reasonable, yes, because it furthers your own self interest. But ultimately, the services and products you offer to the public are yours. You should be free to use them however you want, unless you believe the public has some right to property that isn't theirs.
