So much for the chorus of "this is consenting adults". The culprit was 17 and the other participant was younger.

Don't make too much of this. All they are going to do is revisit the sentence. The kid will not go unpunished. THe punishment will simply be set in line with other similar consensual acts regardless of the gender of the participants. This actually makes sense.

Actually, if the culprit had been 17 there wouldnt have been a crime. By being one week past 18 this became statutory rape.
