NORTHERN LIBERTY, Iowa A proposal to build a camp for young Muslims on federal land in Iowa is causing some controversy in the neighborhood.
The site in North Liberty, Iowa, used to be a Girl Scout camp but now the Muslim Youth Camps of America has other plans.
What we want to develop is a youth camp that is a positive environment for Muslim youth and those of other faiths to belong to, said MYCA Director Jalel Aossey.
The camp is to be built on federal land and controlled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with a Muslim prayer tower and a year-round convention center that would be rented out off-season.

It's not being widely reported because they're going to lease the land for free practically. Mike Gallagher is a radio talk show host with lots of info. I think you can find out when his show is on in your state. There are a number of concerns. The biggest one is that the muslim youh camp people are not accepting phone calls, they're being very secretive.

Part of what one must accept living in a "multicultural" society. Only alternative is to shut everyone out.

If we're to be "multi-cultural" then it would seem if a prayer tower can be built on Federal land, a cross can also remain on Federal land. And on the flip side,if a cross cannot be displayed on Federal land, a prayer tower should not be allowed on Federal land.

I emailed Army Corp of Engineers and reply said they no longer lease land for $1. They consider various factors to consider market value. Hope Mike follows this one closely.

Why? They don't own the land. Why give money to the government? That is our land. We should be allowed to use it for a nominal charge. If we make one dime in profit, the Feds are going to take at least one third of it anyways. We only work half our lives to support government. The least it could do is to let us use some of the billions of acres "it" owns. Heck, the best thing would be for them to sell most of it.
