Official Cites Religion in Grenade Attack (on our troops in Kuwait by US Muslim soldier)

FORT KNOX, Ky. (AP)--A U.S. soldier accused in a deadly grenade attack on his comrades in Kuwait said he did it because he believed American troops were going to rape and kill Muslims, an investigator testified Tuesday.

Staff Sgt. David Maier, an agent with the Criminal Investigation Division, testified at a hearing convened to determine if Sgt. Hasan K. Akbar should be court-martialed.

Akbar, a 32-year-old Muslim, is accused of killing two officers and wounding 14 in the March 23 attack on a group of tents.

Maier arrived at the scene after the attack and said he was briefed by a brigade commander, Col. Ben Hodges, who told him that Akbar talked about the crime after being read his rights.

According to Hodges, ``Sgt. Akbar had made spontaneous statements related to the incident stating that he had done this act because we, or American soldiers, were going to kill and rape Muslims,'' Maier testified.

But when Maier questioned Akbar, Akbar invoked his right to have counsel present and the interview ended, the investigator testified.

Maier also said investigators found two incendiary grenades and one fragmentation grenade inside Akbar's gas mask case. Three empty grenade canisters and two grenade safety clips also were found inside a bag with Akbar's name on it, Maier said.

This soldier is obviously major-league, mind-numblingly stupid as witnessed by the fact that he figured tossing grenades into 2-3 tents would have any effect other than consequences for him.

Traitors, no matter what their religion or origin, traitors are hung or shot. This man was willing to and did kill those who entrusted their lives to him.

Compassion should fall on death ears when it comes to brothers or sisters joined together to do battle with the enemy, then they turn on their own and kill them. The death penalty is more than appropriate here. Sgt. Hasan K. Akbar did willfully and with malice kill his comrades: The traitor should be court-martialed and then shot!

I don't see the big deal. He took an oath god, core, and country. He chose his god, over his country and core. He decided it was better to kill infidels, than his fellow ragheads.

The government should not be covering this up. We are at war these deathculters. Would someone please explain to me why a single Muslim was allowed to serve in this campaign to begin with ? And why isn't his army imam rotting in the stockade with him ?
