Six companies buy first Iraqi oil From correspondents in San Francisco June 14, 2003
SIX companies have agreed to buy 10 million barrels of Iraqi oil, marking the battered country's first major oil export since the invasion by the United States and Britain.
The companies are US-based ChevronTexaco, Tupras of Turkey, Total of France, ENI of Italy and two Spanish firms, Repsol and Cepsa. Iraq's state oil marketing firm announced the sale earlier this week.
The sale, made possible by the United Nations' recent decision to lift economic sanctions on Iraq, is expected to clear space in oil storage tanks to accommodate more production.
The money from the sale will go to a US-controlled fund that is helping to pay for rebuilding efforts in Iraq.

France? Is that what you mean?
Otherwise, all of these are in the oil buying business, so it doesn't surprise me at all.

Yeah, while it's not surprising or wrong, I do find it ironic that the country that bleated the loudest about how we were going to war "for oil" is one of the first in line to buy as much of it as they can.
TotalElfFina has been a longtime player, not only in the oil industry, but in the French oil industry's collaboration with Chirac to preserve their sweetheart relationship with Saddam and his oil fields.
HOP OFF, YOU FROGS.

Well, I did not do a very good job on my "alert" this morning, did I. :)
See #4.
Just a little fun fact that caught my eye. Nothing earthshattering on this Saturday morning! LOL

So where's the long-feared Halliburton in all this? Do they own Texaco/Chevron?

Halliburton is the one fixing the oil infrastructure

We should sanction France for trying to profit from the Iraq War.

Yes, the frogs should be ashamed of themselves for wanting that oil.
