To: A Navy Vet
Well I guess those who pushed for the installation of the pro-Communist ANC government do have a responsibility to help them out now that they are in power. Funny that Carlos doesn't feel more of a need to help out in the USA, which after all is the society that made him rich. None the less, any charity is a good thing and I salute him for being so generous.

I also give Santana credit for his generosity. However, something is terribly wrong if over 500,000 people a year are being infected in one country in this era of awareness. First, I don't believe the 1,600 a day figure. Secondly, is there NO sense of self-responsibility by the people nor the fedgov? Third, how much of the 15 BILLION our fedgov just pledged is going to South Africa, and how is it to be administered? Fourth, how much has already been poured into this and other African nations for education and treatment?

Just seems like the more the haves of the World give to the have-nots, the less they do. And no, I don't think we should turn our backs on the suffering. But there's got to be a better course of action.
