PHILADELPHIA -- Animal rights advocates hope to rescue the legendary feral cats that roam Veterans Stadium before the ballpark is razed next year.

The wild critters stalk the cavernous stadium, munching on potato skins, nachos and whatever else fans leave behind.

I can't believe we are going to destroy one of the feral cat's last natural habitats. This is appalling.

Scott Mellanby of the NHL's Florida Panthers killed a rat in the locker room before a game in 1995, leading to a time-honored tradition at Panther games in which fans throw rubber rats on the ice after the team scores a goal.

On the other hand, a hail of rubber cats cascading down on the field after an Eagles touchdown or a Phillies home run probably isn't a good idea.

Save the cats sounds really nice, But they shouldn't let the Eagles fans to leave the stadium before the wrecking ball comes a swinging.

This is a people problem, not a cat problem. Any person who has a cat needs to keep them indoors and neutered. Allowing them to run loose outdoors is just irresponsible. Our two cats stay indoors at all times. They seem to be quite contented.

As to the ferel cat problem, they should all be euthanized.

Let a coyote loose inside the Vet for a few weeks -- the cats will be gone in no time.

Look here at some of the comments of those with "compassion" for the cats. It's hilarious!

Hey, this is a family site!

What you and your pu$$y get up to in the shower is none of our concern.

Our cats are always spayed or neutered and they can go outside when they want. They love to prowl around the gardens.

Perhaps hot dogs and beer would have worked better.

What the heck do you think the hot dogs are made from in the first place?

So they are going to spay and neuter the cats and then what? Let them go free into the wild again? Isn't that animal abandonment and a crime?

Fix-and-release actually helps keep the feral population down. If you just kill them, then other cats breed more to pick up the slack. Releasing the fixed animals causes a lower birthrate among the unsterilized cats.

We don't know how many stray and feral cats there are, but truly there are millions," she said.

rescuers at the Vet laid out 30 cage-type traps

Only one cat gave in to the tempting treats.

Sounds like exageration on the total number, or they are looking for lifetime employment at that rate!
