Hey, you can't blame her for trying to get as much as she could. I've seen her on some of my kids programs and she has a lot of the right stuff!

She and her lawyers were correct. Disney offered her less than the other studios are paying her right now. The shelf life for child-stars is short. Even if she turns into some female heart-throb star in the next couple of years, that won't last long either.

In an article at the L.A. Times, her lawyer was quoted as saying she waw already being paid the 10 mil/picture by Warner Bros. and Disney was offering 6 million less. In addition, they wanted to pay her $35,000 per episode of a TV show, when other big stars are making a million per. Can't fault her lawyers or parents here. Disney is cheap.

According to a website I just checked, she'll turn 16 in September.

This sounds more like contract negotiations than a firing. Disney won't fire the hottest star with the hottest show they got going right now.

My daughter loves this show. I've watched it with her and it has been essentially harmless fare. We took her to see the movie over the weekend. From an adult standpoint, the movie really sucked, but my daughter and her friends loved it. From the parent standpoint, I was bothered by the central theme. Without giving away too many details, the movie was about Lizzie's middle school graduation and class trip to Rome. Yup. Bunch of 15 yearolds under the supervision of one bumbling, easy to dupe adult. Lizzie meets a boy who just happens to be the male half of the most popular singing duo in Italy. She just happens to be the "seperated at birth" twin of the girl half of the duo.

Lizzie lies to the adult to stay behind so that she can sneak off to see the boy and experience Rome...and her friend, Gordo, covers for her, ultimately making the ultimate sacrifice, telling the adult that he has been sneaking off, getting sent back home (alone, without any supervision to ensure that he gets on the plane, which he doesn't) as punishment. In the end, everything is just dandy and the adult tells Gordo that she respects his loyalty (and by extension his lying to her).

So the real lessons in the movie are (1) its ok to lie to adults (2) its ok to sneak away from your class group to run off with a boy you just met and know nothing about (as long as he's really cute and talks with an accent) and (3) its not only OK, but admirable to lie to persons in authority to prevent a friend, who is breaking the rules, from getting caught and into trouble.
