Rented Matrix 1 last weekend.
Watched it 3 times.
. . . . OK 5 times.
. . . . OK OK 7 times WHATS IT TO YA!!

Except for the retarded 'Dance Fever' scene in Zion, the movie rocked.
The George W. Bush thing - I was looking for it and knew exactly when to look, and if it was his face it was up for a fraction of a second with many other faces.
Cornel West's role was particularly irritating.
However, the rest of the movie was truly awesome. I will go again soon to see it.

I and my friends were glad to give this movie our 80 bucks (for 8 tickets). Definitely some sequel syndrome, but still wildly entertaining. And beautiful!

I thought that scene was well shot, it just didn't move the movie along. Like a lot of sequels, this one lost its focus now that the directors were free to do whatever they wanted.

When I saw the gap in the teeth, I said "My God it would be embarassing to look that much like Cornell West!" Why in the hell did they put him in there? Is this another part of his "sabbatical"?
To: Spiff
I didn't see all the TV images. There were too many to register fully..and Cornell West really didn't have a significant role in the film

I have a question for you that have seen Matrix II - was the R rating really justified? I mean after watching the original Matrix (several times) I noted that there is IMHO very little gore (next to NO blood) marginal language (I know that is a relative statement) and NO sex. I mean ONE kiss. Now granted there was MUCHO fighting and shooting (and dying) in Matrix I but IMHO I have seen a lot worse in PG-13 stuff.
Reason for asking - thinking of taking my teenage daughter who LOVES Matrix I.

Not really it didn't deserve an R, no nudity and not a lot of 'real' violence-but it is very intense.. very 'Croucing Tiger' esquw..

Definitely. There's a lust scene between Neo and Trinity that shows everything you don't have to pay extra for (Hollywood pay system joke there), and just when you're realizing they aren't going be showing those bits they jump to the techno dance freak and you see busty women in gauzy clothes and bra (why not topless no one will ever know, wouldn't have seen any more). Then there's the Frenchman scene with not so vague references to spontaneous orgasm, female masturbation and oral sex.

Yes, this scene has been much maligned. I didn't have a problem with it. I thought that it was an appropriate gesture of humanity in the face of destruction. There's not really many preparations those people could make in the face of 250,000 sentinels.

I hadn't heard about this... I saw the movie already, but plan on seeing it again in the theater. Where is President Bush's face? Watch the TV screens in the scene with 'The Architect'. When he's talking about the history of humanity they flash Hitler, some skulls, and allegedly a picture of George W. Bush (among others).
