Did the Boy Scouts fail to do anything or fail to help gay youths in a manner proscribed by local gay groups, i.e. openly allow gays into the Boy Scouts? I suspect the latter since it gives the UW a convenient out while giving the BS a black eye.

Yes, they are - an amazingly subtle machanism for funding the most obscene liberal causes one might imagine! We give directly to March of Dimes and Salvation Army! We avoid United Way, Combined Federal Campaign, et.al., like plague since discovering where at least a portion of their money goes (it ain't pretty!!).

United Way chapters in university towns and big cities (RAT cesspools) have blackballed the Boy Scouts. The United Way chapter in my neighborhood still supports the Scouts. However, I will not donate my money to them. The United Way is an unneccessary middle man. In fact, the United Way administrators "earn" their living by being middle men. We ought to donate our money directly to the charities of our choice instead of wasting our time and earnings with the United Way.

The United Way will cave on this issue if participants in Miami Dade take a stand and cut funding to the United Way, both through individual contributions and through any city or county grants that UW is receiving.

This was successfully accomplished several years ago in Winston-Salem, NC, partly through the leadership of conservative Republican Alderman Vernon Robinson, who is currently running for Congress in the 5th district.

Even though Winston-Salem is smaller and different than Miami, there are lessons that apply to Miami/Dade. The fact is pressure will cause the United Way to reverse course, if Conservatives show their principles and backbone.

The first step is to begin to rally the troops. Bump this thread and ping anyone you know in the Miami area!

Yes, the United Way IS like this all over America.

I first found out that United Way strongly supports Planned Parenthood and lesbian dominated Girl Scouts programs a while back and made sure that nothing that ever gets my monies goes through the United Way.

The term "United" Way actually referrs to all that is pc.
