How old are you Grampa?

It's been hard to dig up objective information about the era...and while the stuff I have closely approximates what you're saying, I'd like more verification.

I'm 64, and have some strong memories about the commies using the 5th amendment. I was 13 at the time.

Then, I can remember Follywood and the tv nets starting to bash Joe. Also, I remember several of my left wing professors in college, 1956-60 going out of their way to bash Joe. One got so frustrated when a friend and I got him to admit when these guys took the 5th, that was the same as admitting that they were commies. His actual angry words in front of the class were "So What. Who the F cares if they were commies. My friend asked if he was a commie. and he dismissed the class. Later he got fired for making homosexual advance on a student who turned him in. That was 1957.

Throughout my life, Senator Joe has been villified by the Follywoods and the mediots.

DPB101 has the best handle on the history of that time and excellent documentation. He will be a big asset as this unfolds.
