MCI Cans Danny Glover!! Thanks All FREEPERS!
Posted on 05/08/2003 9:59:39 AM PDT by jonalvy44
It's working! Word at MCI is that Glover has been canned!!
Good news from Lori at MCI and a fellow PABAAH member
Well as some of you may know, I work for MCI. I just got notice today that MCI is going to pull all the Danny Glover ads starting today and will be using some different ads in about 10 days. I think the ads will just be graphics and will not have any spokesperson in them. Even though the company has no formal statement on Glover or the pulling of the ads - I am so glad my company has come to their senses. My guess is the last stunt he pulled did not fly well and was the straw that broke the camels back.
We used to have Dennis Miller do our 10-10220 advertising, maybe we should bring him back for our regular MCI Neighborhood advertising eh? hee hee hee

Good news!
BTW what was his latest stunt? Did he want MCI to send all their profits to Cuba or something?
To: jonalvy44
More good news!
If they want us to buy or use their products or services, they have to be appealing to their consumer base we, the people.
The last time I got a call from MCI, I said my reason for not considering a switch to MCU was because of Mr. Glover.
Thanks for the flash...
To: grammymoon
Good, but too late for me - I switched and am not going back.

"Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte Publish Letter Supporting Castro"
Posted by the ChronWatch Founder, Jim Sparkman
Tuesday, May 06, 2003
This column in the Wall Street Journal tells of a declaratoin of support for Fidel Castro by 160 ''artists and intelectuals,'' including Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte. MCI must be real proud of their spokesperson. Note the letter we got from ''A ChronWatch Reader'' on this subject, just below the article.
Many people know Danny Glover as the genial salesman on evening television pushing MCI long distance telephone services. It's less well known that Mr. Glover is a big fan of Fidel Castro. To prove it, he and Harry Belafonte and another 160 or so ''artists and intellectuals'' have just signed a declaration of support for the Cuban regime.
Published on May 1 in Cuba's government newspaper, Granma, the statement says: ''Today there is a tough campaign against a Latin American nation. The harassment of Cuba could serve as an excuse for an invasion.'' The document supported Fidel's May Day warning to the Cuban people against President Bush's ''Nazi'' aggression.

This is a huge win for American patriots!A huge win would be if the stockholders of MCI maintain ownership of the company, instead of it going to venture capitalists with no justification for taking over the company.

Getting ready for all of the libruls who think that the 1st Amendment and 'Free Speech' means the ability to say anything without any consequences. Some of these idjits are of the opinion that volunteer boycotts are illegal due to the 1st Amendment. The amazing thing is that they appear to be literate?!

MCI is on the rocks now. I got the standard reply that they were not considering Danny's opinion. I guess the numbers are in and Danny was worthless.
So much for Lethal Weapon Five even if Mel is in it.

Never mind Glover's politics - he wasn't good in the ads. Tired, low-energy - not the image MCI wanted, I'm sure. Didn't they used to have Michael Jordan as a spokesman?

Joe Scarborough...
"Danny Glover says that the president is a racist. Thats right, according to Mr. Glover, George W. Bush is a racist. Glover also says that American policies were responsible for the September 11th terror attacks that killed 3,000 Americans. He recently signed a letter praising Cuban tyrant Fidel Castro, and signed a petition that compares American troops with 9/11 hijackers."

Danny ain't that bright. He can't see the difference between a local call and a long distance call.
