Here's a previous thread on the subject of funding - ANSWER refuses to disclose their funding source:

A lot of these organizations are tax exempt and many get money from various foundations - it would probably be a simple matter to move money from one organization to another.

Thanks for recycling that article, I have bookmarked it.

It is apparent that many of these so called non profits are driven by the same hatred of President Bush.

As you noted monies can be give to a charity that we might not think of being connected to ANSWER or some of the better known radical organizations. Then that charity can give to ANSWER.

Hopefully, one day we will be able to follow the money from Iraq/Iran and the Wahhabis in Saudi Arabia to these various fronts and then to the outfits like ANSWER.

That's right on the mark Grandpa. Many respectable sounding charities may in fact be a funding source for ANSWER, or any similar organization. There are several charities that sound ok on the surface that are supporters of the local peace movement.

Before you give any money to any charity it may be a good idea to ask who they are affiliated with and who they share resources with. Be especialy careful with organizations who focus on homeless and poverty issues. It's a shame because many of these organizations are already pressed for funds and may truely serve the needy. They may not be aware of the link they may have with ANSWER. If that is the case, sharing this info with them may bring them to consider who they are aligned with.

The whole non profit mess could be changed with new laws once we get enough senators to break cloture.

We need a law passed by congress and signed by President Bush making it illegal for any non profit to donate to political campaigns, politicians or allow the politicians to use their facilities for political speeches.

Any none profit caught involved in political activities would lose its non profit status for years. Then its books must be turned over to the Justice Department for review. Criminal charges could be filed against the officers and the board if they laundered money or broke the law about no politics.

That would bring a halt to this charade that is done as you and I have noted in our replies on this thread.
