According to "Jews For The Preservation of Firearms Ownership" (www.jpfo.org), a teaching booklet put out by the INS is lying to immigrants about the Second Amendment.
Not Charles Schumer, not Sarah Brady... but the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) is actively teaching immigrants that "gun control" is part of our Constitution. The INS is lying, pure and simple. The INS' false statements cannot be counted as "mistakes" -- the Constitution is short enough that anyone can read it; the Bill of Rights is even shorter.
The document, entitled "United States Government Structure Study Guide for Civics Exam" (located online at www.ins.gov/graphics/services/natz/require.htm), states on page two:
"The Founding Fathers believed that the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness was very important. This right is the basis for all of the rights listed in the Constitution and its amendments.
These include:
* right to freedom of religion;
* right to freedom of speech;
* right to bear arms, or to own weapons (a special permit is required);
* right to a trial when accused of a crime, and to know of what crime one is accused; and,
* right to own property and to expect the government to help protect private property.
These are rights guaranteed by the Constitution to both citizens and non-citizens who live in the United States."
Never mind the grammatical error in the use of "right" in the first sentence -- there is absolutely no "special permit" requirement anywhere in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Further on in the document, on page 5, it reads:
"Amendment 2
Guarantees the right to have weapons or own a gun, though subject to certain regulations. (Also called the right to bear arms.)"
There is no provision for "certain regulations" in the Second Amendment. The language of that Amendment says the people's right to keep and bear arms "shall not be infringed."
INS spokesperson Niki Edwards told CNSNews.com that the information contained in the study guide is devoted to teaching immigrants the "main principles" of the Constitution and should not be literally interpreted. A replacement for the current "study aid" is under consideration, Edwards noted.
These statements about the Second Amendment are false, and because they are knowing false statements, they are lies. The INS is propagandizing prospective new citizens to embrace "gun control" as a fundamental principle of our system.
Can't read, think or sppell taught @ government schools... :)
I don't buy it.
2nd Amendment
Gives Americans the right to have weapons or the right to own a gun. (However, there are regulations about buying and keeping guns.)
What I am more worried about is their version of what the 1st Amendment means. It claims the following;
lst Amendment
Guarantees the rights of freedom of speech, press, religion, peaceable assembly, and requesting change of the government. It also states that church (any religion) and state (any part of the government) should be separate. These are some of the most important rights Americans have, and they are carefully enforced.
It is this kind of lie that I resent. I therefore suggest that each and every freeper review this and respond to any innaccuracies in it. It is linked here.

INHERENT RIGHTS
The principle of inherent rights was first written in the Declaration of Independence. The Founding Fathers believed that the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness was very important. This right is the basis for all of the rights listed in the Constitution and its amendments. These include:
• right to freedom of religion;
• right to freedom of speech;
• right to bear arms, or to own weapons (a special permit is required);
• right to a trial when accused of a crime, and to know of what crime one is accused; and,
• right to own property and to expect the government to help protect private property.
These are rights guaranteed by the Constitution to both citizens and non-citizens who live in the United States.
This is utter garbage. This MUST be addressed. There is NO SPECIAL PERMIT required for ANY right in the constitution. That is a conditioning lie being taught. PLEASE call or write these people. I am doing so. And I will send this to elected officials.
This government agenda cannot be any clearer.

6th AmendmentCompare this with the actual text of the 6th Amendment:This amendment says that if a person is charged with a crime he or she still has important rights, such as the right to a quick and public trial with a jury of his or her peers. If he or she cannot afford a lawyer, the state must provide one.
Amendment VIIn all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.
