Being too arrogant. Yes, the USA has bragging rights, but I am getting tired of hearing the same old tirade every time I tune in to Fox, MSNBC, CSPAN, or even CNN.

IMHO Powell beats Rummy hands down in the PR war. The quiet gentle giant. Look back at GW I and see what then Sec Def, Cheney did, he stepped out of the limelight as much as possible. We came, we conquered and we left. Rummy gets on the, we came we conquered and we are still in the process of conquering, bandwagon and stays there.

Much is to blame on the press, but DoD needs to take the fair share. Especially when you look at how Afghanistan is being forgotten about. I wonder why we don't have a deck of cards with Osama and his deputies on them? Guess they are not the "big" press issues of Iraq. Unless of course you happen to be a GI that is still there mopping up.

I went into this war with the feeling that we were inviting disaster by leaving our flanks so open and not securing our bases. Looks like I was wrong and Rummy and the Gens were on top of it. I think Rumsfeld has a handle on things and is going the right way. He is hard to like and seems arrogant but when you are right it is hard to be humble. Just ask me when we have coffee again.

The mental midget was my Commander when I was in 11th ACR. He couldn't hold General Franks wooden foot on a good day.

I was assigned to 2nd ACR, 3rd ACR and 11th ACR for many years. All of the good commanders retired as 4 star generals. Thomas was the worst commander that I served with.

I heard the reason White was forced to resign was because RumDum wanted all services to reassess their transformation plans icw the results of the war in Iraq. White and the top Army leadership have been working transformation diligently for years. White refused to redo years of ongoing work for RumDum, hence he was fired.

I heard this third-hand, but from folks who are connected, so make of it what you wish.
