The Hill: Boston Globe to Probe Kerry Private Affairs

Democratic primaries can be a nasty business, with mudslinging sometimes emerging from the most unlikely of sources.

Back in 1988, for instance, Democratic operatives (linked to Al Gore) were able to get the Miami Herald to investigate Gary Hart's "Monkey Business."

Bill Clinton's personal problems -- starting with Gennifer Flowers -- began in late 1991, as Democratic primary opponents buzzed about information they said would open the future president up "like a soft-shelled peanut."

It didn't work against Clinton, but that won't stop the Democrats this time again.

Their target now: Democratic fundraiser front runner Senator John Kerry.

The Hill newspaper reports that the Boston Globe is planning an expose on the Massachusetts Democrat which will reportedly include an examination of alleged sexual relationship the presidential hopeful had with a 25-year-old woman who later dumped him for a rock star.

"One story being examined for the upcoming series involves Kerry’s brief fling in the 1980s with a young British journalist working in Washington," "The Hill" reports.

The White House wannabe's sessions with the Brit scribe often began "late at night" after political functions, the paper said. "The woman soon tired of the arrangement and dumped Kerry for a member of Pink Floyd."

There may be more skeletons tumbling out of Kerry's closet, according WRKO-Boston radio talker Howie Carr. In his own Boston Herald column last Dec., Carr recalled one long-ago episode where the presidential candidate attempted to woo "a luscious young gal pal" of a Boston nightclub owner.

"One night, they're all getting down, and among the guests is a four-sheets-to-the-wind Liveshot [Carr's knickname for Kerry]. The girl, who's up on current events, starts tearing into Kerry for his weathervane-like voting record, telling him he needs to make a 'commitment.'

"'Baby,' he finally says, swaying ever so slightly in the breeze, 'I am ready right now to make a commitment. To you.'"

With all of this sleaze circulating, we're wondering who is helping to get it into print? The Globe, after all, is owned by the Democratic Party's paper of record, the New York Times. As the Romans asked, "Cui bono?" or "Who benefits?"

Could it be an unannounced Democratic senator with the initials HRC who is deeply disturbed about the money flowing to Kerry and would like to cut him down a notch or two? You decide. We report.

Trying to make up for the dereliction of duty revolving around the lack of reporting on clintoon's background. Otherwise, clintoon would have never made the prez in '92.

Anyone else find this funny that the Boston Globe, Liberal bastion of Bean Town and Mass. would be doing an expose like this? The question is why would the Left want to devour their own?
I personally don't care one way or another about Kerry, his so called Affairs or anything else about him. Wonder if the fine hand of Teddy Kennedy is behind this and if so why? Just who would the left be more interested in, Howard Dean perhaps? Inquiring minds want to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is allegedly from the 1980's. Nothing like those old FBI files, is there?

Not to mention her so-called husband. Don't forget, John-boy Edwards is the Clintons' hand-picked heir to the throne, and so far his candidacy has gone nowhere fast, despite it's huge edge in raising money, thanks to the trial lawyers.

Maybe the Clintons have decided that it's time to put Plan B into action.

These dems have no idea who they're dealing with in the likes of Hitlery. They are so blind they cannot see the evil right in front of them.

Howie Carr once accurately described John Kerry as a "gigolo's gigolo". It's true. How many men can get dumped by a woman worth $250 million and end up with a woman worth $500 million on the rebound? And how many men can say that a girlfriend dumped him for a member of Pink Floyd? Say what you want about John Kerry but he's at least got better taste in women than Bill Clinton.

Well, let's see. NYT is not shilling for Dean or Edwards, so they are not the intended beneficiaries of the sleaze revelations. Everyone else has either dropped out or is hopelessly fringe.

Cui bono? Only the Clintons. But how? By making sure there's not an incumbent dem in the whitehouse in 2008? That seems quite a stretch. To put the party nomination in total disarray, requiring a selfless HRC to step forward and take the nomination "for the good of the party"? Makes sense to me!

It may have been Syd Barrett, so hold your praise.

Could be simple. 2008 or not. A Dem in the White House takes power away from the Clitons. With GW, they get at least another four years to solidify their bases and continue to keep the past in the past.
