WASHINGTON -- Thirty-three years after he founded Earth Day, Gaylord Nelson is trying to shake things up again. This time, the 86-year-old former Wisconsin governor and U.S. senator is trying to generate public concern about the expected increase in U.S. population from the current 291 million to 500 million sometime later in this century.

There sure are too many people. Our area used to be a pleasant place to live. Now it's getting more and more congeted by the month. Another reason why we don't need the millions of immigrants and millions of illegals.

I suppose that J. Kevorkian and J. Malvo should be employed as civil servants.

" The public has a right to know where the policies are leading the country."

How does this square with the Biblical call to have children? How does it square with a world where the Islmaofascisti are heeding the call to be fruitful and multiply while Europe and Asia are heeding the siren song of ZPG and NPG?

It only makes sense that we should limit our population. We have a limited amount of land and limited amount of resource. Many of the open spaces do not have sufficient water supplies for communities.

Already too many of our Civil War battlefields and scenic areas have been detroyed for tacky housing developments. We are all losing in the quality of life.

The implication of crowding are presented in THE PUMP HOUSE GANG by Tom Wolfe (Ch. 15).

Since without illegal immigration the US population growth would be nearly flat, I wonder when Gaylord will suggest keeping out illegals and kicking out the ones currently here?

These people are more than idiots. Europe has has negative population growth for 10 years. In every developed country in the world, with the exception of the USA the replacement birth rate is not acheived. This trend is happening everywhere inthe world that has an educated male AND Female population.

In addition when a bozo like this says the popluation will quadruple, does he mean in Africa where AIDS now infects 30% of the adult popluation and nearly as many children. Their popluation will not quadruple, it will be cut in size.

When arabs get over being victims and allow equal education and freedom of religion, they will reduce their popluation from 6 or 7 children as well. They have kids to support their parents and one to throw on the alter of Allah.

I thought that girlfriend-murdering peacenik Ira Einhorn was the "Earth Day Founder".

I guess the truth doesn't focus-group too well.

Gaylord Nelson, did you get a vasectomy? Or did you bring 2, 3 children into the world? I hope the Earth First gang, PETA and all the other enviro wackos, have gone and had their vasectomy/tubes tied.

I think the environmentalists must take the lead on this issue. All of them should drink the purple kool-aid.

When I was young I used to worry about overpopulation. But eventually I realized that there was nothing to worry about; if it is a problem, it will take care of itself!
