[history]
Two Dearborn men were arrested late Sunday after police said they caught them videotaping the Ambassador Bridge and found two quarter-sticks of dynamite and several shotgun shells in their car.
Patrol officers from the Third (Vernor) Precinct spotted the men during a routine patrol about 10 p.m., said Officer Bernadette Najor, a police spokeswoman. The men, who weren't identified, were taken into custody and were being questioned by the FBI, Najor said.

Well, we finally know what suspicious means.
To: sarcasm
A quarter-stick of dynamite has enough power to destroy a watermelon
That just seems like an odd 'destructive capability' measurement.

Sure does. How do they measure blasting caps...with a cantalope?

people should not guess the intentions of the men:
...Two Dearborn men were arrested late Sunday after police said they caught them videotaping the Ambassador Bridge and found two quarter-sticks of dynamite and several shotgun shells in their car. ...the Arab-American men, ages 26 and 30, on a charge of possessing a dangerous weapon, a felony, because officers found a collapsible baton inside the car...
We shouldn't guess? Arab men, between the ages of 18 and 45, filming a bridge at 10:00 at night, who possessed dynamite, shotgun shells, and a baton.......
Well, let me guess....it was a beautiful spring night, they thought it would be romantic to take an evening stroll, in the moonlight, arm-in-arm, and "fool around" after filming the bridge?

At minimum, these guys need a full anal probe interrogation, deported to the Middle Eastern Islamic paradise of our choice, and any mosques they've hung out at need to be thoroughly "profiled".

IIRC, we used to play with those "quarter sticks of dynamite" when I was a kid. They were called M80's. I believe the CPSC did them in because a few hands and fingers were blown off.

Nice work on the cross-linking. This is one of the things that makes FR so valuable.

They'd probably make nice detenators for some homebrew plastic explosive.

Actually, IIRC it was Jeff Head...

Not me, but I know there's been quite a bit of it around the country.
I do write about that sort of thing in my novel series fairly extensively, but I haven't been keeping any kind of specific record of it as it actually occurs.

"Police were holding the Arab-American men, ages 26 and 30" You mean they were profiling?? There goes the case.
"Imad Hamad, regional director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, said he was unaware of Sunday's arrests, but cautioned that people should not guess the intentions of the men
Well sure. It is perfecxtly normal to be going around photographing bridges with dynamite in the car while in posession of fake documentation. This group is right up there with the ACLU and NAACP in promoting anti-Americanism amd foolishness in place of common sense.

I thought so...in HS they were pretty popular for causing a (what most thought was fairly harmless) disturbance, right behind smoke and stink bombs.
It wasn't quite clear to me though if the M80's were 1/4 or 1/8 of a stick.

This is the first article I have seen where it mentions that they are Arab-American. Like everyone videotapes bridges with explosives in the car.
