Boston Globe praises Chicago Mayor's Arrogant actions

Boston Globe Trashes General Aviation Yesterday, the Boston Globe published a poorly informed and inflammatory editorial, entitled "Terror from small planes." The piece praises Mayor Daley for his unlawful attack on Meigs Field. In a conversation with the writer of the piece, he indicated that he believes "little planes" to be an imminent threat to population centers everywhere.

He makes no distinction between local and federal management of the aviation system, and believes that it is appropriate--apparently even for local officials--to permanently tear up runways, close airspace, and (according to our conversation) perhaps even shoot down "suspicious" aircraft and otherwise shut down the $100 billion general aviation transportation system.

The piece illustrates the reason that the general aviation community must stand against this travesty. If viewpoints such as these go unchallenged nationwide, our entire aviation system will be at risk of a piecemeal shutdown by hysterical local politicians.

Mayor/Crimminal Richard Daley has friends in Boston. How much did he pay them to write an article supporting his Criminal behavior. My take is that Daley is in hot water from his arrogant actions and his accomplice...Chief of Police Terry Hillard SUDDENLY decides to retire. My Daley get his just deserts.

Did the writer of the Globe editorial express an opinion on small-planes-over-population-center Bedford (Mass.) Airport, aka Hanscom Field?

There have been a couple of incidents with small planes causing some damage to some buildings but absolutely nothing on the order of magnitude of september 11, 2001. General aviuation has not proven to be the threat some surmise.

Mr. Daley should be in hot water. In the middle of the night, he had ruts digged through runways so that airplanes cannot land. He did this WITHOUT notifying the FAA. Daley is lucky an unsuspecting pilot didn't try to land there and crash on the sabotaged runway. That's right. What Daley did is nothing short of sabotage. Instead of worrying about the thousands of Americans who legally own and fly private airplanes, they should look at Mr. Daley--what he did borders on terrorism. The left has been at war against general aviation for years. There is something about the concept of a mobile population that they can't stand.

Meigs Field is a prime piece of real estate. I can't help but wonder who will ultimately profit from this robbery.

Mayor Daley should be breaking rocks in an Illinois state penitentiary. But since he's a gangster Democrat, he'll probably escape all of the consequences of his actions and Meigs Field will most likely become a park.

The only way I could see Daley getting his just desserts is if the Feds decide he needs to be made an example of. Chicago courts are very corrupt.

General aviation is under attack because of the personal freedom of flying your own aircraft outside of the TSA screeners and other blackshirt-wannabees.The same people that hate private cars, hate SUVs,hate private guns, etc, also hate private aircraft.

Osama bin-laden was correct in his assertion that Americans would lose their freedoms either if he won or lost. Under the guise of security , it is much easier to take away freedom for your own good !?
