Without getting into the argument over inerrancy, ease of reading, etc., I know I prefer the KJV because of the beauty, rhythm and familiar comfort of the "old" text over the revised, modern wording.
Shakespeare's plays modernized would leave me just as cold.

Yes, he is.
It is an online book defending the King James.

Amen!
He has a chapter on the language of the King James you might enjoy.
Follow the link and you will find the book listed as 'My Plea For The Old Sword'.

Same sentiments here, and same disclaimer.
Ummmm, yeah. "Authorized" by the then head of the Church of England, Defender of the Faith (using the title given to the crown by Pope Leo) the homosexual monarch James the I.
I'm amazed at persons who don't give a hoot about the English monarchy and would be insulted if you asked them if the Queen was the spiritual head of their Church who will confidently talk about the "AUTHORIZED VERSION" as if it were handed down by God Himself.
It's a beautiful and very accurate translation...into the English of 1617! (and revised several times since...) To equate any translation though, with the original autographs of the Scriptures is to pervert the meaning of inerrency and the authority of the Bible. This is the same Paisley, as far as I know, who has said very hateful, biggoted things about Roman Catholics--stirring up trouble in Northern Ireland. As a fellow Presbyterian, I'm rather ashamed of my brother Rev. Paisley, for this statement, and his other actions...
I'm a fan of the recent English Standard Version (ESV) which is various evangelical scholars update and correction of the old (liberally biased) Revised Standard Version. Very accurate, consise, and no silly feminist "gender neutral" language either...
