Seven anti-war protesters were arrested outside the Pentagon on Friday when several dozen people tried to block subway entrances at the sprawling Defense Department headquarters, officials said. One witness said the demonstrators threw what appeared to be blood on the concrete sidewalk near the Pentagon subway entrance and that several lay down in an effort to block commuter traffic.

Glenn Flood, a department spokesman, told Reuters that seven people were arrested by Pentagon police when a group of about 40 conducted what defense officials called a brief, annual anti-war protest on Good Friday, a Christian holy day remembering the crucifixion of Jesus.

"They were issued federal citations charging them with defacing government property and were released," said Flood.

"They do this every year," he added when asked if the protest was directed against the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

I remember trying to get into the South Parking entrance and people protesting the Army's "School of Americas" would be there quite often. This is back in the '96-'98 timeframe.

Dad was stationed at the Pentagon from 1967-1970. I remember the rioters and protestors. I also remember dad coming home with red paint on his uniform and eggs on the car.

It is really sad - Our guys doing their jobs and protecting our country get harrassed by a bunch of anti-American losers. When I was a kid I hated the Vietnam protestors and the medias coverage of it - Nothing has changed except maybe the silent majority isn't so silent anymore, which should scare the crap out of the left.

I was working at the Pentagon in 1979 - 1982. During the Iranian hostage crisis, there were several days of violent anti-American protests, mostly by Iranians and Arabs in this country. During one of the most heated protest outside the Pentagon, I was in the NMCC(national military command center) and all the steel door were locked, no one was allowed to get in and leave and all officers were issued sidearms.
