Another good one from this piece:

But many others in the press are guilty of Appleism, writing whatever story is required to fit the arc of the wartime news cycle.

Appleism--may it enter the lexicon.

Interviewing a Kuwaiti academic, Sawyer wondered if U.S. officials miscalculated "the way the Iraqi people really feel about Saddam Hussein."

I am dumbfounded that anyone, EVEN Diane Sawyer, would ask such a question. She should have asked it this way:

Did U.S. officials miscalculate "the way the Iraqi people really feel about being murdered, gassed, brutalized, terrorized, tortured, raped and inprisoned"?

HMMM?

What ever happened to accountability? I don't know...

It used to be that a journalist who reported the news would have his assets kicked right out the door if he started editorializing in a straight news story. Now, just FINDING a well written, straight news story, free of any slant is like searching for the proverbial black cat that wasn't there.

Conservative journalists do it too, I guess. But I don't have to like it and I don't.

The place for editorializing is on the editorial page.

Sigh, and not a one of them will be held accountable.A wonderful read. A sad look at some of the media. The reports from the embeds were great. Each was a tiny slice but so valuable to this watcher.Never watch the pompous Canadian!Read Apple for humor.

Even though I have read many books about war, I'm no expert not even close. I just wonder if any of these media "experts" have ever read one book about war? They sound as dimwitted about military matters as they do everything else. The entire staff of the N.Y. Times should be compelled to take remedial classes about military techniques and history. It might help them. (snicker)

Definitely one for the archives. Insight has done a great job documenting the anti-American defeatism so common in our press corps.
