Top aides to President Bush plan to meet this week on the future of the Franco-American relationship amid sharp divisions in the administration over how to deal with France over its global campaign against the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

Secretary of State Colin L. Powell, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice are to convene a meeting at the White House tomorrow in an effort to decide whether France should be punished for its antiwar stance, administration officials said.

The US should move at the UN to replace France, on the permanent Security Council. With this demand, should be the threat of a major funding reduction.

With their large economies, Japan and India should be leading replacement candidates (both exceed France's and Russia's economies).

"...healthy trans-Atlantic relations are necessary..."

No, they're not, Gerhard. A healthy America is necessary and we can't have that with allies like you and Chirac. B'bye.

YES. Hopefully evidence of France violating UN sanctions in support of Saddam will come to light. Between their tireless support of Saddam's nuclear program and chirac's despicable "veto" threat, they have proven themselves barely worthy of membership in the general assembly. A much weakened UN, with a weakened france within it, would be a step in the right direction.

Once again the idiots at the State Dept want to REWARD the Frency for their destructive behavior against the US. In fact, the State Dept is virtually a subsidiary of the Chiraq government. It probably gets its strategic vision directly from Paris.

President Bush ought to go with the group that was RIGHT all along about ousting the Saddam regime -- Rummy and Wolfie and keep throwing verbal scraps but NOTHING more to the morons at State.

Dear Mr. President: Please make France humble hertself before the world begging your forgiveness, make them grovel on their knees on the White House lawn for the cameras of Fox, CNN, MSNBC, Al Jazeera, etc. Then tell them you'll get back to them in 2009.

Thank you,
